Thunderform is installed!

Well, I finally got around to installing the thunderform box I bought for my Supercrew. It fits nearly perfectly under the rear seat with only a slight side-to-side movement, no big deal though. Since I have the rear entertainment option, the space under the rear seat that the box doesn't take up is home to my PS2, so I was forced to find another place for the amp. I decided to mount it under the front passenger seat, putting it on "stilts" so it wouldn't block the rear floor vents. I was looking at Fosgate amps, but my space was limited, so I went with a Memphis M-Class 250Wx1 competition amp becasue of its compact size. I kept the factory HU for now because I have plans for an in-dash monitor shortly . Overall, I'm very happy with the box. I won't be winning any db drags, but it's definitely loud enough for me. I drove through town yesterday with it and people would stop and look, so I know it must be fairly loud from the outside. BTW, my Thunderform box has the Xtant sub, not the MTX 4500.

Very good to get the update. I got my Thunderform the other day, and hope to have it installed very soon. I may get my new amp today, not sure.

It won't be hard to install the box at all. Mine just goes behind the seat and I screw two nuts down.

I'll post the updates soon.

AntiRice,

Is that the Thunderforms w/ Xtant off Ebay? Besides the power, how's the quality? I stopped by CarToys to look for speakers yesterday and saw humongous Xtant amps that had the output I was looking for w/ a tag of 1K. It was on sale for 600 so almost dropped the cash but 600, man, ouch! so I passed. It was huge, close to 1 by 2.5 feet.

LeanNCut,

I installed my thunderform yesterday. It was the one from that ebay auction you're asking about. All I can say is I LOVE IT.

All I had to do was drop it in behind the seats and bolt it down. It sounds great. I was afraid of having panels rattle, but the Reg. Cab seems to be put together pretty sturdy.

The Xtant subs are doing great. Overall, the construction and colormatch is great. I'm very pleased with it. I'll try and get pics up soon.

Oh and about the amp, don't waste money on a $600 amp. I got my MA Audio 1200w monoblock for $300. It pushes them quite nicely .

I notice your aTm icon, and you said you went to car toys. Are you in TX? If so, what city?

Hey Eric,

I'm glad you're content w/ the new subs, I'm kinda envious . I'm sure it sounds sweet as hell.

I'm still thinking about that box. It's kind of a pain to get the empty box then have to test fit the subs available out there but I want to make sure to get the highest output subs that will fit so I don't have to replace them down the road. I'm pretty picky and a perfectionist if you haven't noticed LOL.

Did you do the install yourself? I'm sloowllyyy figuring out how to hook up my new MB QUART speakers. I wonder where people usually put the crossovers. Should I put that behind the seat?

BTW, I'm in north Dallas in far west Plano.

Ahhh, not too far from me. I'm in southwest Ft. Worth. It's a drive, but we could work something out to work on all the audio stuff.

Before you buy subs, I'm going to try and test my buddy's JLs in the box and see how they sound. I actually just put my old cadence 10s in today, and they sound damn good. I might stick with the xtants, because after a little use they will break in quite nicely and be just as good.

I'll try and get the JL test done soon, and keep you updated. If you'd like to hear my system before buying, you're more than welcome. I'd like to show you my amp, to save you a few hundred dollars. I can get you one for $300.

LeanNCut,
Yeas, it was the thunderform/Xtant combo off ebay. I paid a little over $200 for it. The quality off the box and sub seems excellent to me. . . and the sound is wonderful. I didn't want head-pounding bass, which this box won't do, but it's loud enough that you definitely know it's there. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a little extra bass who wants to keep the backseat of their Supercrew uncluttered with stereo stuff. I'm still working on the picture thing. . . they'll be here soon.

No, unfortunately I can't get that brand. It's not a huge selection, but there are some decent brands I get at wholesale.

Do you really want to put 12"s in a reg. cab? I find that my 10"s are plenty, and actually a bit much.

Oops I screwed up on the models. It's supposed to be 2 UXP 10D2 and 1 EDX 12D2. I took a look at those subs in person and really like them. They're well-built and put out a lot considering their fitting depth.

I don't know whether it's against the forum rules but which brands do you carry? I've pretty much made up my mind for subs but still need amps.

Here was my weekend project. Obviously it still has some loose ends LOL. I should have taken a pic with the door panel off so the speaker could be seen.
