Break in new sub??

So, I FINALLY got my amp and sub installed... sounds great, will post pics later.
Anyhow, got a question.... anything I need to do to break in my sub? I've heard about break in periods, but no details...

Any advice is appreciated!

I have heard it all from both sides about this question. I would just be smart and take it easy at first just in case.

New Subs

I done competition stereo installation for five years. The best way to break them in is to beat the hell out of them while they are still under warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every sub is different and the break-in time is anywhere from 4 hrs to 20 hrs of light thumpin' for a break-in period. It's best, like dupuis said, to go easy for a while. But some say breakem in like your going to play them!

I always just keep the gains down for the first few days, then pound away.

I'm with kkrodel, just start poundin' baby!!! I've never broke in any of my JLs and never had issues with sound quality or long-term performance. Just let 'em fly!

As you can see, Dupuis was right in saying you here it from both sides. And I agree that it doesn't hurt anything to take it easy for a while, even if it isn't necessary. If you absolutely must have a definitive answer, contact the manufacturer.
