Question Door Speakers

I have a 2003 F-150 Single Cab. I have two 10 inch infinty subs behind my seats and a 500 watt amp (Rockford Fosgate). I want get some bad *** door speakers to replace my stock ones. What kind of speakers would be the best for something i could turn up loud. I like to hear every sound in my music. I am gonna put some tweeters in there too. And should i get another amp or run power from the same one. Or do i even need an amp for door speakers.

Hey man, where in Fort Worth are you? I'm in the hulen area. I just bought a 1999 Reg. Cab.

I want to go all out with the audio in this truck, but am new to trucks. I have a buddy that deals with wholesale car audio, so hit me up with a PM or email.

What kind of boxes do you have for your subs?

-Eric

If you really like to here the detail try going with a set of components. I cant really think of any brands right now but poeple really seem to like MB Quart, Infinity, uhhhh thats about all I can think of that get a lot of praise around here.

To be honest with you, I have the stock speakers in the front doors and 5x7 JL Xr's (coax) in the rear with the JL 300.4 amp to all of them and the stock speakers sound great. I was really impressed after I installed my amp and they sounded the way the do and didnt blow with 3 times their continuous handling power rating. But I am upgrading to the 6.5" JL XR 3 way componets in the front

Subs

I have a 1999 F150 V6 X-Cab with 2 - 12" kicker comps. I am currently about to buy an amp. I have one now, POS 75w bridged to 150 running one speaker. Don't get me wrong, it sounds nice, but the factory speakers are drowned out and the POS amp has bad distortion.

I was also going to upgrade all my factory speakers and was wondering if anyone knew what size the front door and rear door speakers are?

I was doing some research on the net the other day (actually after my post) and cruntchfield says I have 5 1/4" in front and 6" x 8" in the rear. Is cruntchfield giving me a "recommended replacement" size speaker or are those the exact same size as factory?

Per your 99, Crutchfield must have something goofed up. I owned a 99 before I traded up and all 4 of the speakers are 5x7's/6x8's. Just to toss another brand in the fire, I ended up going with Boston Acoustic.

Do you think a 6 1/2" would work (maybe with some modifications or a mounting bracket)?

I'll probably go with Kenwood, same as my receiver.

that would be something i would try not to mess with there. Someone else might know exactly but you are better off with the 5x7's or 6/8's

The only reason I want to go to such an abnormal size in a Ford is becuase I plan on buying a different truck soon and don't want to have to turn around and do the same mods on that one too. I'll talk to my local audio store about it and let everyone know what they say.

1/4' to 1/2' (I wouldn't go thicker) piece of wood is a perfect for a baffle.

Just pull out the stock speaker and trace onto the wood. Then over lay the new speaker and the new speakers cut-out hole (most speakers have these on the box or instructions) over the wood to make sure the baffle is big enough, if not enlarge the baffle. Once it's big enough, cut.

You may have to counter-sink the mounting holes if you use the stock screws/locations with a 6 1/2' woofer.
