upward vs. downward firing ?

I'm going to be putting my sub into my f150 this weekend, and I noticed all the boxes now are downfiring. Five years ago, most boxes for the F150 were upwards.

Is this just a trend, or should I convert my box to downward firing?

thanks

If you are putting them under the seat upfiring then they would be shooting into the bottom of the seat(obviously ) which would be pretty much like downfiring.

About the only reason poeple downfire is so the sub has a baffle to shoot into to make it louder, but if you have it shooting into the bottom of the seat using it as a baffle I would say it doesnt really matter-but Im sure someone who REALLY knows what they are talking about will correct me. I just kinda act like I know what im doing/saying

You want a down firing sub which will bounce sound waves off of the floor, rather than upfiring, in which the seat tends to muffle or absorb some of the waves. If you have a SCREW w/ a bench backseat then check out WWW.SUBBOX.NET they have a rear firing dual 8" or 10" sub box that will send bass straight to your lower back as you drive. If you have enough CLEAN power going to the sub(s) then it really won't matter a whole lot.
