MB Quarts...
I have a PWD-254 that I'm going to install as soon as I get the enlosure in... just waiting for it in the mail.
It's a 10" sub, carbon fiber cone, huge magnet (flat and wide, not narrow and deep), really wide voice coil.... should be sweet.

I currently have four 5x7 coaxial MB's in my doors that are o.k. but I am replcing the fronts with Infinity components. I have been told by an installer that MB quartz are only worth buying if you get the high end stuff and that they are not as good as other brands when you get to mid level or entry level speakers. After having these one year I would agree that they were not worth the $100 a pair I gave for them. I don't know if this helps but thought I would throw in my .02 cents..
Sorry guys I have been busy last couple weeks. Anyway, any component sets from any company you will find all do basically the same thing. They make a decent speaker and cut corners on the x-overs which cause the sound to be a little on the harsh and tinny sounding side. On the bright side you can take just about any reputable companies entry line comp set, custom build a nice zobel x-over with high quality components and have an awesome sounding setup at a fraction of the cost. The biggest thing comes to power handling capability of the higher priced sets. Typically the nicer sets handle much more power and therefore can go further before they experience cone break up but if your not trying to play the music at concert level reproduction you can make el cheapo's even sound great. I have personally done some experimentation with $10 drivers using extreme high end x-over's and have actually come up with great sounding setups. Again my only probelms I have experienced with any of your entry level drivers is not a problem with sonic ability as much as with poor x-over and power handling.

I've had Quarts for years and love them.
I just installed QSD-216 in the front doors (6.5" comps) and DKE-168 (6x8 coax) in the rear. A minute amount of trimming of the metal on the door with a Dremel was all it took for the front. The stockers fit like nothing was ever done.
They can be quite bright for many people, but I set my crossovers to -3 and they sound awesome. No way can I overpower them.
The system is the best I've ever heard, and I'm still not finished tweeking it
No experience with the subs.
