Tweeter Placement

I want to put a tweeter in the top right corners of the front doors. ( Not crazy about the factory placement in the 2004)
I was curious what methods of cutting the hole for the tweeter everone is using. As you probably can tell I a rather new at this and really would like to install my system myself. I'm not cheep just a do it yourselfer were ever possible.

There’s already holes cut in the front doors for tweeters. Pry the plastic covers off and exposes the front speakers and you will see them.

A hole saw works well or hole bits for a power drill. The A pillar works well for tweeters. Either on the front face of the pillar or on the back (glass side) of the pillar aimed across the windshield.

Thanks Deus I am probably going with the A pillar on the front of the face. I have seen a few people using this location and it looks really good.

Can't wait to get started.

I used a dremal with a metal bit. A few tips tough, Go slow, the plastic will start to melt and splatter. Use a steady hand, you don't want to mess up the cut.....I put the door panel on my kitchen table to make the cut.

let me know if you have any other questions. They sound much better here then in the stock position.

I've got a set where iz-in has his. They really sound nice up there.

Holesaw, no splatter, no bs just a perfect hole. Door panel must be removed and if you've never done it, make sure to remove the two lower plastic clips that the speakers bolt to.

IzInBloOm,
I'm gettin' some new components for my front doors and I think I'm puttin' the tweeters where you did. How do the door panels come off? How many screws hold it on and where are they? Thanx

No I don't.

I should have also mentioned that onece all those things are removed, the entire door panel will slide up. Once the panel is off, you will disconect the interior door handle cable so look for that. You unsnap the cable and spin it around till it pops off, like a bike brake cable.

That tweeter position is nice if you like your tweeters nice and bright but if you're into a more true sound you should never mount your tweeters no more than 6 in. from your mids.

From an SQ stand point your correct. I am running mine in combination with

My tweets in the upper door are attentuated. These SatNet X-Overs are really smooth and not bright at all. In fact the 10,000 - 20,000 hz range is low on my RTA.

Most of these guys won't know the difference and will like them up there.
