Lightbulb To vent or not to vent?

I just bought 2 10" MTX thunder 6000s. So i know they will jam either way. But if I vent wont the bass overpower everything. No vent i know you get tighter bass. Then again I have a 98 ext. cab and 2 10" wont fit under the back seat. And i really want a different solution other then risers for the back seat.
any suggestions chime on in.

Food for thought:

Sealed enclosures are generally (if not always) smaller in volume than their vented counterparts.

First of all I have not been around an MTX speaker for about 15 years so don't really know what youve got but here is my take on it.

The sealed enclosre will be smaller, have a tighter bass response but only because the speaker won't be playing many low sub frequencies (my guess 50 hz and up at best) especialy if this is a lower end sub.

Ported box will be a bit bigger, play lower frequencies louder and ultimatley sound better with less power and cheaper subs IMO.

Ultimatley unless you have had different systems to compare this system to, you probably wouldn't know the difference except one being louder unless your a bass head, in which case youd want the ported box. Techno, rap, electronic, trans, dance, etc. all sound better through ported boxes

No porting will not make the bass overpower everything but will give you the room to adjust it that way if that's what you want. Gives you the option of digging into your subs sweet spot.

Good luck

Sealed generally has better sound quality, better low end extension and smaller boxes, ported usually has bigger boxes, worse low end extension but better "mid range" (In terms of bass) extension and worse sound quality. Depends alot on the sub. If you dont mind building boxes, go sealed, then if you dont like it make a ported box. If you dont like building ported boxes, go ported with a low tuning and if its too much bass you can turn your gain down and be good to go.

Ported vs Sealed

If a ported box is tuned correctly it will sound just as good as a sealed box IMHO.
A ported box is very sensitive to corrent box volume and tuning frequency, you MUST get it right for it to sound good.
Some woofers work better in sealed boxes and some work better in ported boxes.
Normally a speaker with a low QTS is better for ported and a high QTS works better in a sealed box.
