Single voice coil handles signal from one stereo channel - left or right. Dual takes both so one subwoofer driver can work for the system. The bigger the voice coil in diameter, the better. 3" much better than 1-1/2". Better cooling capacity and power handling. Usually stronger magnets, too.

There are quite a few places online that sell boxes to go under the rear seat, if you want that. If you want to go with something else and lose the seats in the back you could go as big as you want. I think you will have trouble getting a big 12" sub under the seat though. I just had two 8's put in my '00 F150 under the seat and it was pretty tight.

i have 60/40 bench seats. im removing the 40 and replacing it with a sub, bolted down so it resonates alot less. maybe even dynamat the metal bar.
btw, is there any real sound difference between single voice and dual voice coil? they're both priced the same, so im jus wondering

The only difference between SVC and DVC is it gives you more options with how you can wire them. So if you want to run 1 12 and want to get it down to 2 ohm, then you will want a DVC 4 ohm sub or SVC 2 ohm and so on.

Most of your higher end subs have DVC.

If you are just getting one sub go with the DVC. It will work a lot better for your application.
