Front and rear speekers different?

I have distinctly different sound coming out of the front and rear factory speakers in my 2003 reg cab. If I fade all the way to the front and put my head right next to the speaker, everything sounds fine, like a normal full-range speaker. If I do the same for the rears, I hear almost no highs. Are different speakers used in the rear, are they using some sort of in-line passive crossover on these, or is there some other explanation.

Thanks in advance,
Elijah

All speakers are the same (worthless paper weights)...check your HU settings. As far as I know, there isn't any type of in-line filter for the rear speakers.

Question sound bad?

Sound will be considerably different from the front and back speakers. The biggest reason is the size of the "enclosure" Unless the volume of air behind the speaker each pair will perform different! One more thing - any chance that the wires were modified? Out of phase speakers sound pretty flat and hollow!

Heck, it's all a wild guess anyway - maybe CGorris will give his 2 cents...
