Question Removing speaker panels

I just got a 99 Lightning and I am gonna replace the factory speakers; and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to get the rear panels that cover the speaker off the back wall? I was also wondering what everyone is running back there; did you just replace it with new 5x7's or are you running components.

I dont know if components would do you any good back there. Or, I dont know if the imaging of components back there would make a difference over just going with some good 5x7 coaxials.

I didnt even bother changing out my rear speakers. I just fade them to 50% so I dont even hear them much, just a little filler sound out of them. They arent even comparable to the CDT's I have in my doors.

As far as the fronts go, yeah go with comps. Better imaging, crisper highs, great sound separation. I hear those kick panels are the "real deal." I just might hav to get me some one day. I just shunned away from them b/c I dont want to accidently kick in my new speakers.
