without any seat lift at I I think you will be VERY HARD pressed to find anything other then MAYBE an 8 inch sub to fit under there.
but even then you doubt it.

PS: why are you against a seat lift?? I have a 3 inch lift on my rear seat and There is no problems. I have my kids car seats there , and i tested the seat and still had head room and i am 6'1"

they only thing it stops is your abbility to flip down the seats to use the back as storage. but when you box is under there you would not be able to do that anyhow.

Yes you can. ive done it on an 03 supercab and a 01 supercrew. I put 10's in them. What year/bodystyle is your truck.I have a web site that has some plans on it if you want to make your own.

if you took the time to look at his profile you would see he has a 97 f150 super cab . at its highest point the 97 only has approx 6 inches of space from floor to seat bottom. but only 5 inches back from the seat front it drops down to only 4 inches.

That design youhave although it IS a good box it will NOT and can not fit flush up under his truck seat. he would need at MIN a three inch lift for that box

as stated befor to have any kind of good sub/encloser you need to lift the seat in a 97/98 truck. unless you dont care about it being flush with the seat front. then in that case you can get away with putting in on the floor space in front of the seat/ but IMO that about as getto as it gets. raise that seat and you wont be dissapointed.

PS: I say all of that assuming you are not willing to cut up your truck. If you are .well then i retract my statment and you can get a box without a lift. but even then my guess if you will only have a choice os subs with a 5/6" mounting depth at MAX/ most nice subs are around 6/7. why limit your choice ??

speaking of 3" lifts does anyone know of a place that sells boxes with a 3 " lift kit? That extra inch would be really helpful.

BTW i am not looking for a 3" lift kit i know wehre to get one of those, just looking for a box that comes with a 3" lift kit. Sorry if the questoin was confusing before.

I have an 04 screw and built a box with 2 RE8''s. The box takes up all of the rear drivers side and the middle hump. They are down firing. Left 2'' under box for sub clearance. Did not have to move my jack mounts. Ended up with .56 cub. ft. after speaker displacement. Plenty for 2 8'' subs in a sealed enclosure. Unless you are looking to comp. or go boom boom with your windows open, 2 8'' subs are plenty. Know of someone who hit 137 dbs with 2 of these 8s. That was ported of course.

After reading my post again it sounds like my box takes up the whole back floor. Just wanted to add that my box is flush with the front of the rear seat and does not mess with the foot area. It stops at the jack mount. Best part is if I need the storage area, I just raise the seat, unhook the wires and remove the box. The mounting depth of the subs I have is 4". Plenty of room to mount. I have them mounted toward the front of the box which is the thickest area. Box is made of 5/8'' MDF and is raised with metal speaker spikes. Does not move around at all. So my point of all this is that it can be done with 8'' subs in an 04 screw without raising the seat.

Dupuis,

Could you please send me the plans for your box as well. I am looking for a good design that does not require me to change anything and your description sounds exactly like what I am looking for.

Thanks,

newcastle3
