Help Me Out

I'm putting 2 10's in my truck. I'm leaning towards the kicker comp vr. Let's say I was going to use a mono amp rated at 600 watts 2 ohm. Would I get the dvc 2ohm or the dvc 4 ohm woofers. And do you wire them in series or parallel. Also Kenwood has an amp KAC-8101D rated at 1000 watts at 1 ohm. What 2 dvc subs (dual 2 or dual 4) do you need to achieve 1 ohm and how do you wire them.

Couple things to think about here. The Kicker CompVR10's are super speakers, but require (realisticly) 1 cubic foot per sub to produce pretty good bass (assuming a sealed enclosure. A ported enclosure requires even more volume). That's a lot of storage space to give up in a truck. Because of this, I decided on a single Kicker L5 Solobaric 8" sub for my SCrew (requires only .5 cu. ft. of volume to produce pretty amazing bass) because I didn't want to give up much space in my truck. The sealed enclusure I installed was custom made (by me) to fit on top of the tranny tunnel between the stock center console and the front face of the dash, and has the sub firing straight down at the floor. I feed this setup with a Kicker KX400.1 @ 2ohm Class D amp. Everybody seems to love the bass this setup produces, but can't ever seem to find the sub (if it's not pounding). Please don't misunderstand my comments here, I'm not suggesting you mimic my setup, but rather I'm just offering you some food for thought before taking the plunge on the CVR10's.

One more thing in terms of how to power a pair of CompVR10's. They're rated @ 300w each (150w/VC), and trust me, they can take more.

As far as your wiring comments, here's some 'simple' answers assuming a single sub is used. You can apply it further to a multiple sub install as needed.
1 - Wanna run a 2 ohm output load on your amp, buy a DVC sub (4ohm + 4ohm), wire it's two coils in parallel, and you're good to go @ 2ohms.
2 - Wanna run a 1 ohm output load, buy a DVC sub (2ohm + 2ohm), wire it's two coils in parallel, and you're there. Usually, you won't find many cases of people running 1ohm loads unless they're building a competition vehicle, which doesn't sound like what you're doing.

Hope this info helps. Good luck with your sound system upgrade.
