sealed or ported

I have an 02 regular cab and I am contemplating which way to go.
I am looking into Pro Box's new ported super bass single 10" vs the dual sealed 10"s box they offer. I have 1 MTX 6000 10" right now in a ****ty old RF ported box hooked to a bridged 2 channel MTX 4202. I could use this same sub and amp with the ported box they offer or get another sub and a mono amp and go with the sealed setup. I listen to hard core rap and heavy metal. Would the sealed dual out perform the single ported setup. OPINIONS?? Thanks.

In short with 2-10" subs you will have more cone area that will cause greater air displacement and therefore generate greater output than a single 10" in a ported box. Both designs have their advantages and disadvantages it just depends on what you are going for. As far as the types of music you listen to that is where I believe the sealed would be better for you. Rap does good on ported boxes but metal does not do as well (it still would sound good mind you but you will lose some of the quick snap). Therefore since you listen to both go with the 2 10" sealed because this will give you more bass and the quick response you want for metal.

Are these comparisons close using the same amp:

1 MTX 8000 10" driven with 400 watts in a ported box
1 jl 6 10" driven with 400 watts in a ported box
2 MTX 6000s 10" driven with 400 watts in a sealed box

or will the 2 in a sealed box just blow the others away.

I am going to use a clarion apx 401.2 its approx. 100 watts x 2 at 4 ohm and peak
at 400 mono at 4 ohm the sub is a kicker solobaric L5 dual 2 ohm wired at 4 ohm mono, this is the set up I test played. I didnt measure max depth but the L5 is actually flushed into the face of the box and just the heavy rubber trim sticks out maybe 3/8 inch , so plenty of depth. The bottom of the box is 10 inches and has 4 inch at top 19 tall ......there is a c notch out of the back to clear that rib on the rear cab wall....hope this helps I will take some pics and put them up next week some time....hope this helps

Trust me the single 10super bass design WILL out perform the dual 10 sealed ....If you dont want to get a new sub and amp right away you can get the round speaker version of that box and use your 6000 mtx the amp is a little small though, so maybe beef up amp power to get this box to "talk" to you.

Well ....installed the new probox F 1-10spb ( solo baric style) fit was pretty good ( i have pictures that i will post later) bass was tight for a ported box and would also grunt some low notes ....this thing wanted to rip his slider window apart.....his only drawback was stock speakers and no amp to power those, so had to cut back on the gain from normal settings until he completes his midrange upgrade with amp.....then we can re-set all gains as needed... 2 thumbs up again for probox....I am positive that the round speaker version of this box will do very nice also...
