I just finished installing an Alpine 7995 HU, A/D/S 6.25 to the doors and Hifonics son of thor to a pair of MTX 4500s. My question is for the door speakers. I have some Blaups 6x8 3 ways that sounded great off the factory deck but with 25w rms to the front and 50w rms to the rear......they just don't cut it. Way too harsh and even with MX and time correction on the deck it sounds like crap. I know the amp is high quality and the speakers need to go. I want components for the front and not sure what to put in the back. I can't spend a ton, maybe around 150/pair. What sounds good with 25-75 watts going to them? Broad I know but when I used to be big in the stereo thing (late 80s) I had nothing but RF running off xovers and capacitors. Thanks. BTW I think my wife might have gotten me some Polk ex3550s for xmas.
Polks are a good choice...I've got two pair of db570's to install this weekend. Crutchfield was/is running a special...buy one pair, get the second pair half off. Total sunk cost for the speakers were $150.

Most of the components I have looked at have rms ratings at 100w or more. The Alpines type Rs have rms ratings at 40w which is closer to what I'll be getting to them. Should I look for a speaker that has rms ratings as close to my amp as possible? Is that the best way to ensure good sound? I have some older Alpine components in my wifes Jeep and they sound great. Anyone have any complaints with Alpine?
