Need sub advice for a 2004 extended cab
Need sub advice for a 2004 extended cab
Alrighty I have an 04 f-150 and I'm looking at my options for improving my stereo system.
My current plans is to keep the factory head unit (less likely to get stolen), and then I want to upgrade all my speakers, and I want to add an amp and sub box... But I don't want the Sub box to interfer with my back seat... so what is your recommendations for a sub for my truck...
I'm not looking for a sub that will shake the whole neighbor hood.. but one that will sound good... I had someone suggest a JL w-6... I don't know anything about this sub (or any others for that matter)... What is the Bang for the Buck...
Also if you can recommend speakers for the doors.. I'm open to those suggestions also.
Thanks
Chris

Hey Chris,
I'm also the proud owner of an '04 SCab and am interested in exploring sub options as well. I have the Audiophile upgrade with the sub and it's not too bad.....for now, anyways. But, I'll be wanting for more soon......
In my last truck, an '01 Lariat SCab, I had a JL Audio Stealthbox in the center console with a 10W3 in it. It was great, but won't work in the '04. The center console in the new truck doesn't have nearly the capacity that the old one had, so I doubt that JL will be able to design one for it. If they do, it certainly won't be big enough for a 10". I also don't want to give up my entire back seat and this whole sub issue looks like it's gonna be a challenge.
A single 8" Bazooka, or better yet 10", won't take up too much room and will make a lot of bass if positioned correctly. But it won't fit under the seat. Rest assured, someone (hopefully JL) will come up with something creative to work in these trucks. There's a ton of money to be made from people like us.
