Replacing All Stock Speakers

I want to have all four stock speakers replaced in my boyfriends 2000 F-150 Extended Cab with Sony Explod Speakers. Problem is he can't figure out how to get the door panels off to tell me what size speakers to buy. Does anybody know what size the speakers are in the front and rear doors? Thanks!

The door panels are easy to remove.

It should be fairly similar to that.

Lows in the sats won't matter if he's running a sub. Personally, I crossover my sats at 80 hz, 18db/octave......

Great pictorial by Johngs on removal of door panel.... It is fairly simple as long as you know which way to start...

Getting to those rear speakers is a whole different story......

Good luck......

Donny:

are the rear speakers in a 4-door extended cab both in the doors?

My rear passenger side speaker is in the door (easy to get), but the driver's side rear is a pain (no 4th door).

I dont know if removal of the seat is completely necessary, but I did it once just for kicks (great idea right ), and I dont know that that panel will come out without removing the seat. just wondering My guess is you can probably get the top panel out easily enough, but the bottom one probably not since some of those rivets are behind the seat back, and you need some wiggle room which the bench doesnt give you.

Im tempted to go outside and try it right now, but it's too cold.

Yeah, I know what you mean about being hard to get to the rear speaker on the drivers side.......
When I bought my truck, I had the head unit and all speakers changed out professionally and there was no mention about the left rear...... later, I wanted to change out the rears to some good midranges and found out just what was involved in changing out the rears....... and I won't do it again.
After all was said and done, the rears are so poorly placed that I've ended up installing some high end seperates in the front and forgetting about the rears.......... That damn seat MUST come out if you are gonna get good access to that rear left speaker.... and that's a pain............warm OR cold.......

I think the four door models have fairly easy access to both rears but really don't know.

I wouldn't say it is bad placement...there just arent many places to put the speakers on our trucks.
