New boxes?

Ok, heres the deal. I bought some cheap 12" jensen subwoofers and built the boxes my self. I am powering 2 of them, with one 300 watt amp. The botton line is, it sounded good when it was in my honda trunk, but now they suck ( i only had one in the honda, not 2). Anyway, my question is, how can I make them sound better? New boxes, more power, new subs? they have that "pop" sound to them instead of the long "boom" sound. Any recomendations?

Are they bridged?
Will your amp handle a 2ohm load bridged?

If you are running them in stereo and you ran the one bridged you have cut the power to the sub(s) in half. If you are running them bridged parrallel and your amp can't handle the 2ohm load, that can cause clipping and/or cutting out. I'm guessing since you are running Jensen subs you also have a low quality amp (no offense) and it can't handle it.

Solutions:
1. go back to just one sub
2. buy a new amp that can hadle the load. This will cost money and you might blow the Jensen subs if you're not carefull.
3. Save up and buy new subs and amp. You can get better quality than what you have for not much more than what you spent. The Fosgate stuff comes to mind.

I can't really specualte any more without knowing all the details of what you have and how it's setup. I'm not gonna rag on your system becaus I've run low end stuff before. Some of it actually sounds good, like some of the Radio Shack tweeters.

I used to run pyramids when I first started out. Talk about crappy equipment. When I upgraded my amp to an Orion SX, I immediately fried all the Pyramid subs even though I never exceeded their power ratings. Cheap subs are hardly ever rated for real power handling. They are meant to run with the same brand cheap amps.
