Wow this site explains it!!

This may seem stupid to the experts but i just looked up audio stuff on www.howstuffworks.com I never actually understood what ported and sealed boxes did but this really explained it to me. i also understand now why it is recomended to use less power in a portes box. I just thought this might help some of the novices such as myself and maybe even some of the others. http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/speaker4.htm I just thought this was interesting.

Peace,
X

Here some useless facts. A subwoofer is a transducer. Silver is a better conductor than gold or copper. The reason copper is used is for expense. The reason gold connectors are used is because gold is softer and fits the connector better. I could go on for days.

Sorry if it seems stupid to you but all ive ever read on the forums is that a ported is louder and that it is harder on your subs. Well this explained a little more why its louder and why its harder on it. Sorry if its a useless fact to you but it helped me to understand it better.

I think it was a good link to post. That howstuffworks website breaks things down into laymen terms real nice like. I am sure someone that reads this forum will benefit from it. Good post.

Invalid,

I checked out that site as well. That is great place for info as well. Now if only we could get some of those links all together and make it into a sticky thread.
