What do you guys think about...

I just bought some new subs, Cerwin Vega HED's and I blew them in less than a week. They sure sounded nice. Anyway many people said the Vegas sounded good but they could pop easily. Well my question is this:What do you guys think of the JL W6's particularly the 10th Anniverary Edition 12"s? I can get them for $150 each. What I want to know is Are these good lasting subs? Can I give them a beating and not have to worry about them popping?

I love JL stuff. My freindsbrother in law had some W3 12s for about 3 or 4 years with no problem. When my freind bought them from him the foam tore pretty soon but that was cuz they had been sitting in a storage building for about 6 months and the foam was just old to begin with. All in all i think there great subs. I have a W7 12 and love it. You should be able to work thise things and they stay runnin for a while.

Later,
X

A week godness Boss429 what did you have hooked up to them. Did you let them break in at all. There gotta be some kinda warranty on them. I thought you bought the amp to run them at rms????

I've been running a JL 15W1 at %200 power for ten years or better and it's still running strong. Can't argue much with that track record IMHO. I always liked Cerwin Vegas too, I'm surprised they didn't last. Did they have enough power going to em? Even though I like some other subs I don't think I could go with anything other than a JL after the good fortune I've had with this one. I almost kinda wish it would finally blow so I would have an excuse to switch to 12's or 10's. I'm not really the Bass head I used to be, but I can't justify getting rid of a perfectly good speaker.

I was pushing the Vegas with a Rockford Fosgate 450s amp. But I had the gain down pretty low. It must have been the music I was playing when it happened. The Vegas do have a warrenty but I don't think I will keep them. When the new ones come in I will probably sell them on the recycler.com or something. to help pay for the JL's. My birthday is next Tuesday so I think I will get them as a b-day present to myself. So as soon as I'm done pics will come soon. I still have to put all the wires under the carpet. Any pointers for putting the wires under the carpet. I have one amp under the driver seat and one amp under the passenger seat. with the sub box behind the seat. I also still have to put in the dynomat, for the Eclipse 5x8's in the doors.
