And all this time I thought you were against me pushing the eD subs...let me know how you like them.

Soon as you install them and crank them up you will look like this...

Then you will become one of many eD fans...

Education is what you get from reading instructions. Experience is what you get when you don't.

I think the path to audio enlightenment is a good bit of both!

Well you already know I'm over at soundillusions, also at sounddomain...but thanks ! Is this a hard problem for advice? All of a sudden no-one seems to know anything about enclosure building where I've been posting!? I guess i need a program thats better than winISD?

Email or call ED, don't post on their board and expect them to give you plans for a 4th order bandpass. They would have a billion kiddies trying to build them and toasting their subs. Just tell them your situation and let them recommend something.

WinISD is a good program for determining subwoofer response in different enclosures. It won't tell you anything like excursion or frequency based power handling like the 'pro' version or BassBox.

Roush,

Not trying to be the stick in your spokes here but have you really thought about what the 4th order will do for your sound? Not to mention possibly the sub itself?

I mean 4th orders are nice, lord knows I have had to build my fair share of them. however let me give you a little insight to what you can experience from them. Much more narrow frequency response (which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what your going for). Increase in the output of the sub on a db/watt scale. Small loss to power handling capability of the sub. Sharp roll-offs on the upper and lower sides of frequency response. A little more difficult to build (but I know you can handl that part with ease). A royal PITA if you have to replace a sub. Air space requirements so size becomes a factor (can avoid this some if you go isobaric).

If you have considered these points and still want to go 4th order then check out this website and punch in your specs then build away. http://www.colomar.com/Shavano/4thorder_info.html

or

http://www.diysubwoofers.org/bnd/4thorder.htm

That first site has a little more info and a calculator to figure your air space requirements. Once you know how large you need each chamber to be and what size and length port/s to use then it is up to you to make the box fit.

I must say, I taught your amp selection was bad, but for your subs...those I can respect. What type of sound are you trying to achieve...are you going for SQ,SPL or little of both?
