JL or Eclipse

Well it is time for some bump in the lightning and i want it to be loud. 4 JL 10w6v2 or 4 Eclipse Aluminum series 88100. Or 2 JL 12w6v2 or 2 Eclipse aluminum88120 12's. I am still open to some suggestions on diffrent subs besides these two.

Both play very loud and are excellent subs. The Eclipse tends to function better in the small sealed enclosures like we use in our trucks. If loud is what you want then look at two things. Which of the two has the lowest optimum Vas for a sealed box (again the Eclipse if memory serves me). Then look at the Sensitivity rating and go for the highest possible db rating. After that take into consideration which one has the longest throw (Xmax) and that best matches up with the power you will be running to them.

If loud is what you are looking for here then the question of 4-10" vs 2-12" falls under the same guidelines as previously mentioned.

In other words, 2-12" will outperform 4 10" if the 12's are in an optimum enclosure and the 4 10's are in a box that is too small for them. Again you need to first figure out just how much air space can you get for your enclosure then pick the correct sub combo that comes closeset to optimum. Also consider that the 12" subs will tend to play a little bit stronger in the lower frequencies as compared to the 10" subs but the difference will be slight and you may not even notice. Again, I stress that you choose the best sub not only for your intentions but that also best fits the truck. You could go with a 3 10" setup as well which would also do nicely so see how that configuration works into your plans as well.

There are so many better and cheeper subs out there.
The also i asume you are going to have sealed box's
If so scrap that idea and go with ported box's you will gain so much its unbleavable. You can make 1 12 louder than 4 10's

If you want some Ideas drop me a email, i work in the Car Audio indrusty so i have done and seen almost every thing

Ok i narrowed it down to 12inch subs. I have a friend that can get me a good deal on Audibahn stuff. Should i go with them and save the money or go with JL. What series do you guysrecomend in the audiobahn stuff?

Well I personally don't care much for the audiobahn subs and therefore would have a hard time recommending them since I do not have alot of experience with them due to that fact. However, from what I have read from TEK2000, 2Trucks, and Roush they really like the Elemental Designs for their clarity, power handling, and price to name a few. You may want to look at a few of the other threads with regards to them and think about giving them a shot.
