Question Q forms 6.5"

I was wondering if anywone has installed a 6.5" in a Q form? I know they are not meant to hold that big but some sellers have said that 6.5" will fit with some mods. What mods are needed? Which 6.5" will work? Thanks

I've spoken with one guy that tried to fit 6.5"s in his Q-forms... he said he wishes he would have gone with some 5.25" speakers and saved himself the trouble. I'm not sure what all was involved in fitting the larger speaker in there... but keep in mind that once you've exceeded the designed speaker space.. you're dealing with a curved, uneven surface.

I fit 6½" Focal Polyglass' with no problems. Just mount it from behind .

IMO they are a good cheap alternative to kick, but nothing beats custom. My advise is to modify the way the tweeter goes in and angle it a little better bc the soundstage is a little too far forward and even worse ont he passanger side.

I guess it boils down to the outside diameter of the speaker then.....?

Really just where it bolts as long as you can still mount it or even you could glass something to make it work. Mainly just as long at the diameter from one side of the surround to the other is with in the size of the Q forms then you should be good.

How to improve Q-forms

First, stiffen the woofer mount location buy cutting out a ring from MDF. I think I used 1/4". Look closely at the picture I linked to and you'll see the lip of the wood. I spray glued it in place and predrilled all the speaker screw holes. When you attach the speaker it will be very stiff...

Also, put a bunch of polyfill and go crazy stuffing the hole. What they include with the Q-forms is about 1/20th of what you need.
