Bass Test CD
Brass Monkey- Oh Yeah, One of the best overall CDs to test all freqs is the Eagles Hell Freezes Over and Fleetwod Mac's The Dance. These are excellently recorded and mastered CDs that test the full ranges of human hearing. It's funny that the bass CD issue came up as I recently purchased Steve Miller Band's Fly Like an Eagle and Book of Dreams albums. Their Bass rifts Rock ! esp. Jet airliner !

Bachbuster's-Fugue in D minor
This song has very intense low range from a pipe organ.
Tchaikovsky's-1812 Overture- Any Sheffield labs recording
This song has the famed cannon shots with sub bass frequencies in the 14hz range that will work a sub to death and give a really great shaking feeling moreover than hearing it. Trully impressive if your subs can take the heat.
Another funny kinda on the same subject story, check out this funny article about the brilliant Trombonist that decided to try and turn his trombone into a cannon. http://www.wardle.demon.co.uk/humour/1812.html
Anyway, those are merely two excellent songs to test your subs subsonic ranges. Just about any recording done by Sheffield Labs is of the utmost quality just find something to your taste and listen away.

Did you ever hear the Telarc disc of the same recording ? If I am not mistaken, they were the first to record it with the real cannons, way back in the early 80's. Remarkable workout for my planars and subs (home system, of course).
Just wondering...

Well I used to be into rap and hip hop, but not nearly as much any more. Some of the best songs for bass in that genre are:
Lil Jon & Eastside Boyz ft. Ludacris - Bia Bia
JT Money - Hi-Lo
DMX - Ain't No Sunshine
Project Pat- We Gonna Rumble
Yungstar - Knockin Pictures Off Da Wall
2Pac - Straight Rider
Too Short - (Not sure the name but it starts off with awesome bass and Too Short says "***** what, ***** what, ***** whaaaaaaat)
69 Boyz - Tootsie Roll
Ja Rule - Lets Ride
2 Live Crew - Face Down *** Up
Lil Wayne Ft. Big Tymers - F**k You
Trick Daddy - Shut Up (remix)
Any song by Three 6 Mafia or Tech N9ne should be good....
Theres some songs that will sound good on the system.

Ahh come on you gotta bump the kilo ali..
Kilo Ali-Love in ya mouth
Kilo Ali-Nasty Dancer
Darude-Sandstorm
3-6 Mafia-Spinners
Big Tymers-Get your roll on
That is a good start. Nasty Dancer is one of the hardest hitting songs I have ever heard. It will make you feel kinda light headed by the end.

Hey B-MAN
Yeah I heard the 1812 Overture Telarc recording as well. Used to use it quite often in setting up stage equipment back in the day. Really nice when you can focus folded horns with 24" subs so it feels like your getting kicked in the chest when the cannons fire.
Oh B, have you ever used the CD cleaner/polish called Finyl? I ran out of it about 4 years back and have been searching everywhere for a new bottle. It was simply amazing stuff. You could take a brand new out of the case CD and clean it with this stuff and believe it or not hear the difference in your playback. The biggest thing noticeable was the channel seperation and clarity difference it made. It would remove virtually all light refraction properties of the media casing so that the laser would read more accurately. I used to demo the stuff to my friends and they would have a cow at the difference it made. Anyway, I think I am going to try and find it online if I can. I searched for it a year or so back but had no luck.
UPDATE: I found and ordered a replacement kit from a site called Audio Advisors. Do a search for it on Yahoo if you are interested in getting some to treat your discs.

Funny you should ask. Right before I left for UT I got some Mp3 from my friend (abouty 6,000) and among them was about 10 songs all called "Bass Test" Some of them, actually are test of the the different htz and mhtz to see what your range sounds like and others are just techno songs with a lot of bass, my favorite being "I Like Big Speakers" Of course I wasn't able to brun it in time so I don't have it up here. I might have to send him some money just so he can send me a copy so I can test out my new sound system
