2 way vs. 3 way
A properly designed 2-way is better than any 3,4,5...way. I would recommend an amp for your fanatics instead of replacing the rear speakers (if the RFs aren't amp'd).
The extra mids and tweeters serve no purpose and complicate the crossover design and frequency balance.

I know the RF need an amp, I am powering the crossovers with an amp, rated at there RMS, so they shoud be kick a$$.
Anyway you say that if I was to replace the rear door speakers that 2-way are superior?
what are the two way. Mid/high, or low/high. Or kind of an in between?
THanks for the reply

U" properly designed 2-way is better than any 3,4,5...way" Can you plase explain?
I perfer 3 ways...if setup properly they can sound great. The reason I like 3 way is, I like to have a deticated midbass. I fell I can get better midbass response and a clear midrange with them being seperated...its just in hwo you run it...
Two ways are: mids and highs
Three ways are: midbass, midrange, and tweeter.
Never really heard of 4 or 5 ways....
unless you including the subs...

Hey HAZARD.. they're not talking about component systems I dont think. I think they're referring to more along the lines of a coaxial versus tri-way speaker.. not the 3 way component system you're referring to.

I was just considering 2-ways (6x8's) to replace my two rear speakers.
Should I just leave them stock, or what would you recommend?
I have the tweeters at head level up front, the mids in the doors, and a sub behind the driver seat, all pushed by a 4 channel amp
I was going to just buy like a $75 pair of 2 ways for the back, should i just leave them stock?
In the front i wont notice the difference right?
Thanks for the input guys

neck, it seems to me that speakers like you are suggesting would be a step backwards. My recommendation would be to disconnect the rear speakers and not replace them with anything. But some people like the sound of a four speaker set-up. It's a matter of taste. If you do use rear speakers, I would think something of equal quality as the fanatic X's. But you are the one who has to be happy with your system, so get what fills all your needs.
Just had the Fanatic X components put in this morning, man they sound great. Sub sounds pretty good. So the whole system sounds complete. I was just going to replace the rears, but you think its pointless, or if I was gonna that I would need a high quality pair of 6.5" two ways.
Oh and I got a digital camera so I hope to get pics of everything up at some point.
Thanks

Are you satisfied with your tweeter placement? How are they mounted exactly... are they pointed directly toward you or are they aimed parallel to the curve of the windshield?
It's generally fairly difficult to achieve good imaging placing your tweeters so far from your woofers. Do you notice different sound sources.. like you can tell that the tweeter is up high and the woofer is down low in the door? Do you notice different amplitude levels from different speakers (are your tweeters really strong and the midrange isn't as noticeable?)
What you want to achieve is a single point source out in front of you.. kinda like at a concert where all of the sound is generated from one point in front of you.
