Thumbs up Speakers

I've learned alot about exhausts and speakers from this Forum since I have joined. The knowledge is vast and people are terrific.

I wished I had spent more time on the exhausts before purchasing, but after learning I now know what to do in the future.

So for all the people with new screws I will state what I learned about speakers. What fits is 5x7/6x8

1)Bost ACC's
2)Infinty Kappas (572.5CF)
3)Polk Audio
4)Pioneer

are the top choices for direct replacement in the Screws. I listed them in the order of sound quality I liked and tuned to my ear. I am not in any way an expert or qualified in any way to say what is better or what is not. But for what I like to listen to, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Boston, Metallica, Foo Fighters and such these four souned the best to me. The top was the Boston ACC's and so and and so forth.

Next came the price.

I would have rather have had the Boston ACC's but could not find them as cheap as I did the infinity and since they are basically component speakers, in one unit, they come with crossovers.

Most stores wanted between 149 to as high as 169.00 a pair for either the Boston or Infinity. Polks ran around 99.00 and the Pioneer for 89.99.

I found the infinity kappas online at www.etronics.com for 84.99 a pair.

Pioneer 3-ways where also much cheaper. And they sound great.

No Boston Acc's to be found any where that price range. Or Polk audio.

www.crutchfield.com has them I believe. But etronics is just way cheaper. And shipping was very fast.

Now granted all speakers sound better then stock. I think the cheapest pyle speakers would sound better then the stock ones.

So I went with the infinity's because of the price and quality. They installed very easily and I found taking the doors apart much easier then I first imagined. I am going to post some pics soon.

I kept the 6 disk cd changer Head Unit and I am very pleased. The infinity's tweeters are almost too good. Super crisp highs. Almost to crisp. Very clear. I can crank the radio all the way to max volume and no distortion.

I hope this helps anyone considering what to do.

Thanks for the gouge. I was hoping the Kappas would be an easy install.

I have some 3 way 6.5" Kappas up front and Wal-mart 5x7 Pioneers in back. My Kappas sound MUCH better than the Pioneers, though they lack the bass the Pioneers put out (not much, but I don't have a sub yet). The Kappas can also take more power and don't distort when the Pioneers do.

My stereo consists of a Clarion drx 9675z Head, Clarion 400.4 Amp, and the speakers mentioned above. I was going to wait out and buy some Infinity 5x7's for the back (I had the 6.5's from a S-10 I sold), but a few posts claimed that it was tough to dismantle the back door (HA, it was WAAAAAAYYYYYYYY easier/quicker to install the speakers in my F-150 than it was to yank off the freaking door panel on my S-10) so I bought the Pioneers. I am disappointed with them. Maybe I'll buy some Infinity 5x7's anyways.

You probably won't be happy until you put Infinity's in the back. With the odd pair you have in the front, you'll always compare the difference.
