Sysmex,

Nothing much happened. I never returned to the shop. But I do have an idea on what the problem is. When on the gas or the rear end is under a load there is no humming. When I get off the gas, thats when it starts to hum. I'm thinking that they never torqued the pinion down to the spec and never set the proper preload on it. So this weekend, I will try to torque it down to about 170-180 ft/lbs which is where everyone seems to think it should be. This should keep the pinion from moving back and forth as you hit the gas and get off the gas.

That definately sounds like the right thing to do. I was actually having a conversation with my friend at TFO and he said a few possibilities and that was one of them. Keep us informed.

Thanks Copperhead, I feel more confident now that you discussed it with someone else and they seem to agree with the problem. Hopefully I will have good news on Saturday afternoon.
