For those of you in TX...
This spring break 9 or so friends and I are headed down to Galveston to stay at a friends beach house. I've never been to TX so I'd like to know if there are some must do/visit/eats around Galveston. We are driving from NC straight through, so stopping on the way there will be minimal(just enough to eat and such).
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'd stop in Destin or gulf shores and pay to stay there before I would drive twice as far to stay in galveston for free.

Take the ferry to boliver island and drive down to crystal beach!!
Bring a cooler full of beers/snacks, chairs, towels, binoculars (to check out the hotties), liquor, smokes, tents/umbrellas etc.etc. the only thing that sucks is you have to buy a $10 beach parking permit and stick it on your windshield but it is worth it for spring break!!!

JP, I was born and raised in Galveston. Shoot me an email if you want a good run-down.
- Open beach driving = East costs, West bigger & free (San Luis Pass)
- Pelican Island has some decent wheeling, I can make you a map
- 61st - 53rd street @ Seawall best for eye candy
- let me know what kind of grub ya'll are looking for, there's a suprising amount of good ma & pa restaurants in such a small town.
- we have Spec's liquor that's the size of a grocery store. So if you're looking for something other than the big three light beers, that's your best bet.

Ranger and everyone else, thanks for the replies! We got back yesterday afternoon and I must say it was awesome. Not many schools were on spring break so it was more relaxing than anything else(except for New Orleans...but that's a different story). We ended up going go-carting and going to the Houston rodeo one night. Other than that it was all about the cornhole, riding around, chilling in the hot tub, and taking out the boats/jet ski. Overall, I love TX a lot and hope to get back down there sooner than later.
