Question Inspection

Any "friendly" inspection stations in the Rockwall area that can do a 92 Mustang? Didn't have this problem in San Antonio.

have you thought about finding another county that does only safety inspections? its really not hard to find a dirty inspector. most will have the sticker just waiting for you to pick up, dont even have to test the car, now its not the most legal thing but if thats the route you wanna go it aint gonna be cheap. just walk up and ask an inspector standing outside, usually if they dont they know someone who does

i know down here the "friendly" inspectors charge about $100 including the sticker.

If you live (home mailing address on your insurance card) in a sniffer or obdII inspection county you have to get it inspected in that county, IIRC.

o ok, cuz we dont have to check to see where the people are from in houston. and ive had a friend who always drove half an hour to get his done bc it wouldn't pass the emissions with his mods and never had a problem with doing it that way.

txstang, whats causing you to fail?

I've purchased them in the past for as much as $225. I will continue to look around and try a non-emission county and try my luck. As far as the failing:

No emissions on car
Dumped exhaust
Limo tint

Those are the ones off the top of my head.

if the car was newer i might be able to help you.

Rockwall shouldnt be emissions regulated as far as sniffer, but should still have the "visual" emissions inspection that is looking for correctly installed parts

225 was a one time deal. I had to bite the bullet which I don't plan on doing again.

urs was window tint, my friend had no cats and no emissions on his 91 chevy.

i got my truck passed today finally, my truck wont pass with my tuner installed for some reason. had o2 sensors ,evap and catalyst all not ready's. took off the tuner and drove 15 miles and passed no problems.

pat, since i guess u do inspections, i got a question i know some people do this and think its sketchy, say your truck failed for emissions you come back for the retest scan in your paper work get to the OBD part plug into another vehicles computer, wont it still pull the VIN and it get sent to the state?

depends on how the inspection machine is set up, and honestly i havent tried to bypass the system. As far as i know, the inspection machine is just a code reader hooked up to the internet basically, and it reads for any CEL/SES codes, and decides pass or fail based on the number of monitors ready/not ready

So yes its possible that they could get away with it the way they are doing it, all though it was much easier when all we had was sniffers in the tail pipes.
