LA Meet n Greet??

I don't know about the rest of you but I've got cabin fever. Another thread identified a bunch of us who live here in LA, so how about some kind of get together, meet n greet, or whatever??

Doesn't have to be real formal or organized. For example, there's a big rest stop between S'port and Alexandria on I49. Maybe we all just show up there on a Saturday? Pack a lunch and an ice chest.

Ideas?

I'm down.

Count me in

Are you talking about the rest area around Ville Platte? That's a little South of Alex. and is a big rest area. In a couple of week's I can make it. It's still about a 3 hr. drive for me.

Smokin Lariat Jan 25, 2009 01:02 PM

Yes, that's the one I was thinking of - but that was just my suggestion - easy to find and travel to, plenty of room to park the trucks, set out a lawn chair and mingle... but I'm certainly open to other ideas and places.

Guess we should also think about a date that would work for most folks.

On second thought, no, I think the one I'm talking about is north of Alex?? But like I said, I'm open to just about anywhere...

The big one with the lake is in between Opelousas and Alex, I stop there all the time when going up to Oklahoma. Just have to get Mardi Gras over with first.

Ahh, mardi gras

Yeah we've got two Mardi Gras parades here in S'port too. What about sometime around mid March???

That sound's good to me. That rest area I was talking about is kind of right in the middle of the state so a lot of people could make it. They have little shelter's and I think barbecue pit's right next to them.

That sounds like a winner to me. Alex is only 2 hours for me.

PawPaw Jan 25, 2009 08:51 PM

Add about 20-30 minutes coming from your area. It's a little South of Alex.

That rest area is about 10 miles N of Washington on I-49, I think that's the one y'all are talking about? Roughly 50 miles S of Alexandria, maybe a little shorter

This weekend when I drive from south Mississippi back home I'll see exactly where it is.

That sound's good, what you doing in Picayune?

My parents moved down here, so I found myself an apartment down here. My Dad and I have a decorative concrete contracting business, it's a lot easier staying close. I usually drive home at least 2-3 weekends a month though, and stay in the house we did live in when I was in school.

Good deal, I know a lot of people from the New Orleans and St.Bernard area moved over there after Katrina. I moved in the other direction!
