Site Downtime...
Wait, let me guess - the site was down yesterday afternoon and evening, right? 'Cuz I was starting to go into withdrawal...
Whatever you did must have worked since I got in just fine this morning. Thanks!

Ok, here's what happened...again.
Apparently, some script that we use is mistakenly overwriting /dev/null, which is actually a Linux file system character file, into a regular file. So, when it comes time for a reboot, the server hangs and is unable to mount the drives. This is the fourth or fifth time this has happened in the past year and a half, and now the second time the problem has been diagnosed correctly. Thankfully, the consultant that helped me out this time documented the procedure to fix the problem!
Now, my big task is to figure out WHAT is causing the problem. Lucky me. Our reliance on CGI is all but gone, with the exception of our ad rotation script. I'll be doing some investigating over the next few days, so if you see some intermittent downtime or slowness, that is likely the cause.
Sorry for the downtime. (5pm ET to 1am ET) But at least we're still tracking in the 99.97% uptime for the year.
