I enjoy browsing craigslist, autotrader, and cars.com in my spare time (I'm not looking to buy - just looking), and out of curiosity I thought I'd check out the listings for used 2015-2017 F-150s. I always set the price cap at $35k so I can see a decent variety (and because that would be the most I'm willing to spend if I found something I can't live without ) I couldn't believe it, the 2.7 is taking over!! Out of over 100 listings in a 50 mile radius, there was only one 3.5 ecoboost and a handful of 5.0s. The rest were all the 2.7 eco. What in the world is going on?? If I were in the market, I'd have to spend $40k on an F-150 just to get an engine I'm interested in. That's kind of annoying

Tell me about it. Im checking out the 17 STX with the appearance package. Has everything i want. i was being extremley picky on wanting the 3.5 10 speed with the stx package. finally my salesman sent me all the window stickers within west texas that has that 3.5 10 speed combo. 6 total!

ID say 80 percent of them is the 2.7 and the rest was the 5.0.

XLT they are easy to find in the 3.5 combo but then i have to deal with all the chrome or step up to the sport package to get back to painted bumpers etc. 8k between the STX and XLT sport is a pretty big jump. All i want for options is Carpet, Sync 3, Reverse Camera and towing package with atleast a 3.31 or 3.55 rearend.

Moving up to the xlt sport you get a console shifter and a power drivers seat along with heated cloth seats and remote start. Not worth 8k for those small add ons.

The more I look at prices, the more I want to keep the truck I have.

20's sold like hot-cakes. I'll be calling Full-Race to order up a intercooler.

I'm with you guys -- I'm good with money and have reached the prime earning years of my career and still can't fathom how people are justifying dropping that kind of money on a new truck.....

I think I bought both my F-150 and my Mustang at just the right time -- I really don't remember having sticker shock when I purchased either one of them and felt like I got a pretty fair deal on both.....

When you look at the kind of ultra-clean low-mileage used cars you can buy for a song off the internet if you simply search around a bit it's hard to justify the kind of coin it takes to get into a new vehicle these days. What I can't figure out is how guys who are still relatively young can even afford the payments on some of the rigs I see driving around town -- talk about being a slave to a car note.....

The problem is the used truck market is so strong. Trucks that are 2-3 years old 30-45k miles still bring close to what they sold for new

True -- it blows me away what I could get right now for my '09 Ranger. The truck is quickly coming up on 10-years old and the prices for ones in similar condition on the internet are only a few thousand dollars less than what I paid for mine new -- I suspect a lot of that has to do with what has happened with the new truck market.

Well Fellas meet Ruby, she was sitting there saying pick me pick me!

Its amazing how much more refined this truck is compared to a 4 year old truck. Extremely quite. no road noise to speak of and cant even tell when the transmission shifts.

Only problem so far is the 12 foot tall radio antenna going into the garage . Think im going to buy one of those stubby antennas. Probably just the height difference between 2wd and 4wd

Good grief!! I was just talking about how I was only looking and wasn't going to buy one. You're killing me! That thing is gorgeous. I think that's the perfect combo. Such a classy color, and the 3.5 EB and FX4 combo is perfect Although I'm surprised you didn't opt for the XLT sport package given your distaste for chrome. But that is a modest amount and looks sharp with that color.

Excellent choice

If i had a choice i wouldve went STX appearance package with the 3.5 10 speed but those are rare. Where i bought this at is a very small town dealer, town is like 2000 population and they had 6 to choose from. 3 Lariats 60k and up 1 platnium and a STX 5.0 then had this XLT. I walked away from this one twice cause of being 4x4 and the sticker price (never owned one, never needed one) but after talking to the salesman and finding the out the rebates, 302a package and a real health trade in offer i couldnt say no. Ends up im very happy with the purchase, all day ive found myself thinking of places to go just to drive it

So is this rig going to be your daily or are you going to start piling the miles on the Cavalier again....???

I'm glad you got another truck though -- it will be handy when it comes time to move the S-I-L back into your spare bedroom.....

It's going to be mostly a daily driver when its pretty outside. If it rains etc then the cavalier will get drove. I shouldn't put near as many miles on this one compared to the old truck. I put around 28k miles on it the first year. I don't drive near as much now so should be able to keep the miles more down on it and in better condition.

Already picked up front weather techs yesterday, The back mat from the 13 fit really good so thats a plus. Also got a thick Bed Mat, Cant have my truck bed tearing
