Kinda funny. Got weathertechs for the Edge. Opposite of the f150. They fit 100 percent perfect up front and the back isnt perfect and they slide around. On the f150 fronts are 85 percent fitment and back is perfect with no sliding.

Perks of working in computer repair field. Free time until phone rings. Some days busy other days free all day. Lol. Wallet is almost empty. Have one more thing to do with the edge next Wednesday. Have a little door ding in drivers door and passenger rear door that a local dentless company is going to take out. After that im done.

Went to Wal-Mart to get some clay for the edge. Was thinking to myself i wish i had a nanoskin sponge that wasnt so aggressive. Got to automotive and they had this! Went ahead and bought it since it waa only a dollar more than the meguiars clay kit. Got home and did the whole vehicle in 20 minutes. Went from rough sandpaper type finish to nice and smooth.

Got some Blackfire sealant sitting on it overnite and then tomorrow wipe it off amd add the pure carnuba and itll be finished. Was going to cut and polish etc but being a daily there is no point in it.

 

Good morning everyone!! Busy the last couple of weeks with Mardi Gras and visitors that came over from England. They are friends of my daughter and son in law and enjoyed New Orleans..Grand Isle and the South Louisiana area. They went back yesterday so I ended up cleaning the garage and mowing the lawn. Had the 16 and 9 yr old grandsons helping and that was appreciated.

 

I am giving some serious consideration to selling the truck and using the equity from it to buy an older truck in good condition for $5-6k. Then I would just drive the Mercury as my primary vehicle, but I still wouldn't be without a truck when I need it to haul stuff and tow the boat. I'm getting pretty tired of the monthly payments, especially when the truck just sits there for weeks at a time. In this scenario both vehicles would be paid off, I'd still have what I need, and I could fatten up my savings account a little each month (or buy more guns ).

I'm just not sure. Do you guys think that's a bad idea?

 

What are your monthly payments?
How many months before the truck is paid off?
How much equity would you have in hand once the truck was sold and the note was paid off?

 

About 3 years left on a 6 year loan. $400 per month. I would have approximately $6,000 in hand after selling the truck and using some of the equity to pay off a few other things.

I bought the Mercury with cash, so it's paid off. I bought it with the intention to keep miles off the truck, but now that I drive it every day and only use the truck about 2-3 times per month, I'm questioning the logic in paying for something to sit in the driveway. The Mercury is reliable, comfortable, and has low miles. So I bought the car to save the truck, and now it has caused me to consider getting rid of it However, I don't want to be without a truck of some sort. I went without one for a year once and it drove me crazy not having one available.

Another factor to consider is all the money I've put in the truck in mods. I would probably not be able to recoup that money. And I do have the truck set up exactly how I want it, so it would be a shame to see it go. But I'm just tired of paying for it. I can afford it comfortably, but it doesn't mean I like spending the money. My salary will increase substantially in about two years, but I also have to start paying for student loans when it does. I don't want to do anything hasty.

Man id keep the truck. 400 a month isnt bad at all and just think in a few years when its paid off you will have a nice truck for years to come, especially if your keeping the miles off it.

 

The one issue I would see is whether or not you will be able to find a truck in the $5000 price range that would be reliable enough to not end up being something that you were constantly throwing money at for repairs?

I also wonder if a few years down the line you wouldn't end up taking a note out on a nicer truck -- maybe on one very similar to the truck you currently own? If that was the case, all you would be doing is trading your current "comfortable" payment for likely a larger payment a few years into the future? In that scenario, I think I'd just keep the truck you have, pay it off, and skip the new truck in the future. If your current ride is set up the way you like and you aren't using it as a daily any longer you could probably expect to keep it for many many years.

But I guess at the end of the day, it's going to come down to how much you "dislike" making your current truck payment.....
