you'll need to buy the special tool which is similar to a fuel line disconnect tool (there are two versions available, one plastic, one metal) and the line can be disconnected in seconds...
OR...
use a small flathead pocket screwdriver or similar pick tool to carefully push the plastic ring into the sleeve. you'll need to slowly work your way around the tube so that you push all sides of the plastic sleeve in evenly. it may take 5 or 10 minutes instead of 2 seconds using the proper tool, but once you get the sleeve pushed in far enough the tube will come right out.
good luck.

Bob, I just flushed my converter this weekend when I did my tranny fluid change. I took the rear tranny line (which is the return line) off by breaking it loose with a flare wrench so as not to round off the nut, and used a regular open end to take it the rest of the way off. I then took a 3/8 fuel line (about two feet) with a clamp and slipped it over the end of the steel line you just removed, clamped it down so it would not slip off, and ran it into a plastic gallon milk jug. With plenty of new fluid already in the tranny, I would start up the truck and watch the milk jug fill up. It fills up reasonably slow, so no need to panic. I filled up two milk jugs 3/4 of the way each, so I figured about 6 quarts. I used 16 quarts of new fluid in the entire change/flush process, so I know I got real close to a 100% change/flush.
Would it be feasable to just undo one of the lines at the cooler down below and let the fluid dump into a drain bucket while I had someone adding fluid to the trucks dipstick?
I had both of thses lines off when I was tring to attach the flush machine we have at my work.

Either way the truck will have to be running in order to pump the fluid out.
Thanks 347!!!
Where going to use one of those lines to pump the rest of this fluid out of it this afternoon. The thing that bother me the most is how the water got in there in the first place.
I will post back how it turns out.

Well the fluid now appears to be normal in color we got all the milkeshake out of it and it seesm to be shifting just fine at this point. I will keep monitoring it to see what happens.
That rear return line worked like champ to get all the fluid pumped out, I had a freind puring fluid down the dipstick while had the truck running with line open draining into a bucket.
Thanks for the help!!

It's very near the back of the casing on the passenger side.

Standing underneath the tranny, facing the front, on the right side rear of the tranny, you'll see a solid line that connects. (18mm?). That is the 'return' line.
Using a flare wrench is a good idea to remove and tighten, rounding one of those off would be bad.
