2016 rear axle code

I see a paper sticker on the rear housing of a 2016 F150, In large letters I see S878A Is this the axle code and is there a chart here so I can look it up? This is a burnt salvage truck and so the door tag is a gonner.

No, that doesn't have the ratio.

OK, how about another "code" I see near the Ford part number in smaller print:

8.8 EIPB

The other way to find out is to jack up the truck, and get some chalk and mark the driveshaft and the rear wheel and start turning and counting.

Or get the VIN and ask a local Ford dealer.

Thanks but I already talked to the dealer and I do know the ratio. What I am trying to find out if it is if it an electronically controlled differential.
Is there a visual check I can do for this?

You can't tell any axle info from the VIN. The only axle info is on the door tag and the diff tag. You have a 8.8" axle there but "EIPB" doesn't return any useful info with a Google search. S878A is a fairly generic code that applies to several different configurations.

So what does the "tag" look like and where is it usually located?

It USED to be on a metal tag under one of the cover bolts.
