Talking Upgraded 2014 to 2018

After just shy of 4 years, said good bye to my BigRed, traded her in along with the wife's 2010 Escape

She had 48,000 miles of trouble free driving when I traded her in. I mostly returned her to stock to reuse some mods, and sell the rest
The Escape had 94,000 miles on it.

When I bought my 2014 I really wanted the STX Screw with 6.5' bed but Ford wouldn't allow you to configure a truck like that. This truck is a foot longer than my 2014 and yet it is still approximately 300 lbs lighter than my 2014

I've already got 400 miles on her and I love everything about this truck!
2018 5.0/10spd 2wd [3.15 axle]
STX comes with 20" wheels, painted bumpers, unique grill, Sync 3, flow through console, "productivity" instrument cluster.

I live in Texas, so naturally one of the first mods I felt I "needed" to do was 20% tint. Very happy with how it turned out

What the most noticable differences between the 2014 and the 2018?

Part of me wants new truck but it's paid for and doing good still so keeping it makes $$$ sense. My next truck will probably say Super Duty on the sife though.

Ride quality for sure, also my previous STX didnt have Auto headlights, so thats a big leap forward for me on the 2018

Road noise is about the same

So far fuel mileage is up from my average with the 2014 5.0/6spd

I'm not one to jump from truck to truck year to year, but the numbers were right for me that it made a lot of sense to go ahead and do the deal

You could disable it via FORSCAN or the jumper wire method.

Congrats...Looks nice.

Forscan is definetly in my mind, figured it will also come in handy as I start to wrap up some loose ends on my 2003 Coyote swap and need to start turning off things I don't have as part of my swap

going from a 2012 to a 2017 I totally agree with you.

ride quality is better and the lights are incredible. auto start stop takes getting used to.

for what ever reason then 2012 seems smaller and easier to park, i am still struggling with parking and knowing how close i am to things. maybe that is just me.

Great looking truck Patman. love the 5.0 and jealous of the 3.15 rear.

I agree with you BROTHERDAVE, my 2017 makes a much wider footprint for turning in tight spaces and takes some getting used to while parking. My 2002 is much easier to maneuver.

I haven't checked turning radius yet, but I'd bet there's a foot difference.

EDIT: looked it up, 6 foot difference in turning circle

Nice truck Pat. The new STX is probably my favorite configuration. Looks great and still has a ton of features. Nice choice!

It feels way too nice to be a dressed up base model
