Looking at an M90

For sale in my local Craigslist. He wants $100 for it. Anything I should look out for when I go to check it out? Its off a 1992 Thunderbird Supercoupe

Anyone know what else I'd need to run it on a 4.2L?

it's worth about $2-$3, plan on a cutom sheet metal intake manifold, a one off intercooler system, a one off belt drive setup, a one off throttel bdoy set and about $15,000 by time you've got it running

get a turbo it'll be cheaper and look better. those supercoup setups are freaking ugly.

My cobalt SS had a M90 on it (factory). I would never go that small on anything. It was small even on a 2.0L motor. Like it was said, a custom turbo set up would be more cost effective.

Yeah but I'm not looking to max it out. A few pounds of boost, just to juice it up a bit. A supercharger made for my block is harder than a custom-off turbo setup?

as I was saying, with your skills and knowledge plan on 15 grand, and since you can't afford 87 octane in your truck, I highly doubt you can affort 91-93 octane you'll have to run with forced induction

I don't appreciate the fact that you're assuming my limited skills and knowledge have much to do with the matter, nor my financial history.

That being said, I've talked to a few Mustang guys with M90 setups and their words (and work) is very antonymous with what you are saying, so I'll be reading yours with a grain of salt from now on

Well the M90 will make a few pounds of boost, but being such a small blower wont make a whole lot of power. A custom turbo kit would cost the same as it would to make a custom intake for your truck and at that point you can make gobs of power with little boost.

You should totally install a triple m90 setup on your truck... that would be dope!

I don't think I could go back to an M90. But the one I had on my 5.4 made very good power.

OP,
It will be very expensive to have a custom intake made for your truck + all the other parts you would need!

Phil

Would the adapter plate for the M112 by SSM work with the M90?

Why would I need an adapter plate? It came off a 3.8

i remember seeing awhile back that you do need an adaptor plate. i was thinking of doing the same thing with finding an M90 but it would just cost way to much for me and i am guessing it will only add about 60hp tops. at a low boost like that. i want to keep track of this thread too since i was thinking of doing this but dont ave the money or knowledge to do it.
