Im so lost... Help with my 4.6l Screw
Ok so ill get straight to the point..
I drove my truck 200 miles after the #4 cylinder code came on.
After removing it, drying it out, cleaning plug and putting it back in i got the following codes.... 401 and 171.. EGR and Bank 1 Lean..
After having a mechanic come look at it, scan it and do a full diag on it, we did the following... Replaced #4 coil and plug, then 1,2,3,5,6,8 plugs, #5 coil, all the boots and springs. The number 7 had been replaced 2 months ago. I put a new thermostat in because my heater still doesn't work, I think it's the heater core. Anyways, We cleaned the EGR ports, and the DPGE sensor was reading 3 volts when it's supposed to read .5 to 1... So after all of that.... I still have a dead miss when accelerating, While driving, and pretty much at random times while driving.... Computer throws no codes now and when it's not missing runs better then ever, but the miss is just horrible when happening but nothing consistant... Im so lost and so broke i have no idea what to do.... Anyone that can help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Ok so why did you replace #7 plug two months ago and why did you not replace it while installing new plugs on all other cyls? I'm suspect of number 7 because it sounds like it gave you problems before. What brand plugs did you use?
Doesn't make sense ?? Well, -never heard of one miss this way. You don't have a "dead" miss. Your CEL would blink if your did. It won't stay on, but it will blink at-least 7 times then shut off once the monitor count exceeds parameters.
So, -driven normally, pinpoint "where" in the RPM's your low grade misfire is occurring. They usually occur @ 45 mph and right after the shift into OD. Not always, but it's helps knowing so we can help you.

#7 was replaced when i purchased it couple months back. I put borg warner coils and motocraft plat plugs.
The injector is something i've never checked mainly because im not sure how. I will look in to that though. Thanks a bunch.

I'd lay odds on a bad BW coil or one or more of the originals is failing now. When one goes, the others generally aren't far behind. Get a whole set from Uneek or Global on Ebay for about 85 bucks and change them all.
Check the vacuum lines behind the battery.
I put a new thermostat in because my heater still doesn't work, I think it's the heater core.
When you changed #7 plug a few months ago it tells me you were having problems then with #7. What would a little history on that problem be? Was the sparkplug damaged, gas soaked, carboned up. etc? There must have been a reason that you changed only that plug at that time.

When it was traded to the dealer the #7 coil was out so they replaced it and the plug 2 months ago. Sorry im a lil slow, i dont'get on every day. The truck has over 200k miles so i know it's time they start going out, i just can't afford to buy them all at 50 a pop for bw and 100 for motorcraft. I haven't been able to find a set for 85 as you said but im not savy either.
Jbrew, i appologize, i did not see the second part of your first post. I want to say sorry for my lack of knowing exactly how to explain whats going ona nd the time i have on here. Between my 11 month old keeping me busy 24 hours aday and trying to fix the truck i dont' get on much. Im also not very good with this truck being it's my first ford. As i said before the #7 coil n plug were replaced when i purchased it. The truck has over 200k on it and ran great. When i got water in the #4 coil and drove it that day over 200 miles is when the codes starting messing up. So after replacing it is when i got the lean bank code. Im not sure how to take injectors out or clean them. Tips would help. Im really just not sure what to do, Im sorry if im leaving something out and not answering correctly. I would like to get this truck going though so me and my son wont be stranded on the side of the road some place. Thanks again.

I'm not sure if you have any Autozone, Murray Orilley. etc. auto part stores around your area but they will scan your truck for a code for free. You may have a couple codes and just aren't aware of them? I think it may be a COP but I hate to see you buy a set and its something else. If you were in my area I'd be over there trying to help you out as I understand your situation. There are a lot of good people here that hopefully with jump in with some more ideas for ya. Unfortunetly sometimes it comes down to the process of elimination and that takes few bucks. jbrew and others any more ideas for this guy?
i have an autozone and orielly's.. They did scan it when it was throwing codes. WHen it stopped i called my friend who works for Toyota, Which is owned by the ford dealership here in town. He brought over his big computer(scan tool) way advanced from auto zones or orielly's and after 2 hours we came to the conclusion of the DPFE sensor and the coils. So now after replacing all of them we scanned again and it shows nothing. Weird thing is, the bank 1 lean code that was originally wrong with it now shows it's working fine. I just dont know what to do, Im sure it's something simple were over looking and i think that's the most frustrating part of it. Today im going to run seafoam through tank, then through intake... Hopefully cleaning injectors, once that's complete im going to pull all coils, replaces boots n springs, clean ends of coils and put all new plugs again and see if that helps.
To jbrew, I finally found the coils on ebay you mentioned. After this weekend if i can't seem to find the problem, im going to pull fuel rail, have a friend check all injectors for me, if nothing wrong with them or MAF sensor and a few other things he wants to check, im going to purchase the coils and go from there.
I really appreciate all the thelp you guys are giving me, im really hoping to fix this thing soon. I've had to break down and ask a fam mem for help with parts n money because im tapped but gotta get truck going for me and my son. thanks again guys!!!

A lot of the knowledgeable guys here don't like the seafoam and other additives. And try unplugging one coil at a time to see if it affect the idle, this may help find which coil is bad. If the idle does change for the worse coil is good, if it doesn't affect idle, good chance that coil is a problem. good luck
