Cool So i want a K&N

I bought my 05 supercrew 5.4 and the first upgrade i wanted was to change the air filter. I bought the amsoil eaa which seems to be doing well, but I still have the bug for a K&N.

Thoughts?

I hear alot about them messing with the MAF...

I am taking the K&N off my truck It comes with A SCT X3 programmer that is tuned for the air mass meter and K&N CAI. It has run fine for 17000 miles.
I wouldn't get rid of it except I need the area behind the headlight to put an other battery. SO I am goint o switch to the JLT ram Air set up

I think he just wants to put a panel filter not a CAI on it. I've had a drop in filter on mine since I got it 4 months ago no problems yet.

Stick with the EA - and never worry aboot yer MAF

Disregard the marketing BS & hype. NO filter provides any perf gains whatsoever. The OEM is both large enough and flows enough to comfortably supply a stock N/A engine's needs as it is. And filters very well while doing it.

And get another tune, right?

Before removing yer K&N - jot down yer IAT's under normal use (a commute, etc). You can do this easily by logging that parameter with the X3.

Then - when you have the JLT running, do the same, and compare the two.

I'd be interested to see what you find. Thanks!

Ive had a k & n flat filter since I bought my truck in 04, no problems from it. Ive even removed all the plastic piping from the fender to the airbox. Works good, just hose it out and dry it off. Dont even oil it anymore.

Don't over oil it and you won't have a problem.
