1997 ford exp 4.6l/2 valve eng swap to 2007 ford 150 5.4l/3valve engine
Hello, I am new to this site and also wet behind the ears on engines. I have a 1997 Ford Expedition with a 4.6 liter/2 valve engine. I bought a 2007 f150 5.4 liter/3 valve engine. Can anyone give me advise/instructions/or ideas on how to do this. after I pull the 4.6 liter from my EXP, where can I post this information when I want to sell it. Any information from knowledgable people would help greatly. I am in very deep into this vehicle. I bought it for $2000.00, but have spent nearly $12,000.00 on parts, wheels, windshield, leather seats, and other stuff for the truck that I probably did not need. Needless to say, I am keeping this truck for a long time. Most of the time I feel like kicking myself, but I really wanted to build something and something to tinker with. I plan on putting a super charger and other performance parts on this. Hopefully, I can use some of the performance parts I bought for the 4.6 engine to put on the 5.4 (cold air intake, true dual exhaust, throttle spacer, and other things).
Well back to my original request.

Did you also pick up the transmission?
You won't be able to use the CAI
True duals can be used after some simple pipe work.
Throttle body spacers are the biggest scam in the automotive field. Sell it to a middle school kid or something.

NP not to burst your bubble, but based on teh vague information you've given regarding the transmission, this swap appears to be way over your head...
read this thread https://www.f150online.com/forums/v8...1-finally.html and let us know if you are able / capable of performing the swap...

To much hassle dude. Sell that 3v and go out and find a nice 2v 5.4.
3v swaps have been proven to be to difficult for all but the most expert engine guys. It's likely way over your head.

There has to be a FORD owner out there that has done something similar to this.
I AM REQUESTING HELP FROM ALL FORD OWNERS. PLEASE REPLY.
Has ANYONE... (EVER..., SINCE FORD CREATED THE 4.6 LITER 2 VALVE ENGINE AND THE 5.4 LITER 3 VALVE ENGINE) successfully swapped a 1997 4.6 liter 2 valve engine (210,000 miles) with a 5.4 liter 3 valve engine. with less than 10 miles? There has to be someone out there that has made this possible.
I already have all the parts to include the 5.4 liter 3 valve engine and have spent the $$$$$. I cannot turn back now. I will post BEFORE AND AFTER pictures and video. From the responses received so far, it sounds like this project is impossible, but IF I succeed this will be an awesome POWER HOUSE OF A SUV.
I appreciate all the "YOU ARE OVER YOUR HEAD" AND "TOO MUCH OF A HASSLE" OR IT CANNOT BE DONE" responses I have received, but would also appreciate ideas and advice. I have always loved FORD and I want to show all the chevy people that FORD owners can also do great and difficult upgrades on FORD projects. I would like to hear from hard core FORD OWNERS on this, in other words MY ("YOU ARE OVER YOUR HEAD" AND "TOO MUCH OF A HASSLE" OR IT CANNOT BE DONE") PROJECT.

HAVE YOU READ THE LINKED THREAD?

That is a very detailed thread on a competent member's experiences in doing that swap.

Dude, you could have bought yourself a much newer Expy with the 3V in it for what you have in that '97! Sorry, but that's just crazy. You have more work ahead of you than you can imagine, even IF you knew what you were doing. Good Luck!
P.S. They came out with the NEW Expy in '03 with the 3V in it and I'm pretty sure you could buy one for what you have in the '97, maybe less.
