cheap way to make my truck loud

Well I got pulled over the other day for racing my freinds silverado. I was going to get dynomax bullits with si/do but all that money is going towards the ticket. I got too excited about having a exhaust system so I need a cheap one now. I was thinking about just cutting off my muffler and replacing it with a glasspack or somthing cheap like that then dumping it. I was just wondering what were your guys ideas about what muffler to use. I have a 2001 screw 4.6 thanks for any help.

Just replace the stock muffler with a single 2.5" bullet and be done.

thanks for the help, I heard that the bullits sound different depending where you have the tip. Would it sound better coming out befor the rear tire or just dumped. Any suggestion on where to have it exit would be great.

Loud without power to back it up = fail

Work on giving it power first.

Also im guessing the 12" would be better instead of the 18"

DigitalMarket- I would like to add more power but right now Im not in the situation to be spending a lot of money.

12" bullet exit before the rear tire with a 3.5" or 4" tip.

Why do you want or need your truck to be "loud" ?
In my opinion thats just another ticket waiting to happen. Theres a big differance between "loud" and the throaty roar of a quality exhaust.
A cheap solution is going to result in a poor quality end result. Just leave it the way it is until you have the money to do it right.
And then next time you want to race, take it to a track instead of putting your life and the lives of innocent people at risk. Your lucky all you got was a ticket !

I spent $200 on mine, would have been higher for anyone else about $400 but I know a lot of people around here.

I think mine sounds good, some of you might hate it, I kinda want true duals 2.25 with magnapacks exit in front of rear wheel passenger side (harley style.) but it sounds good IMO and I am happy with it. And that all that matters.

But yes, a Dynomax Bullet will make it somewhat louder and legal, while still affordable.

If you wanna be loud, run an open Y pipe with a 5" tip on it.. Will perform like hell, and sound it too, but its loud and cheap.

just cut the pipe before the muffler, and take everything behind it out. (stock muffler and tailpipe) and leave it alone. its not that loud, but its way better than stock.

Best thing about it is it's loud enough and sounds crappy to warn people that a driver with a high likelihood of having minimal insurance is coming their way.

And how's that? That's how the younger crowds do things. I guess it's my fault for being 21. Why would I blow money on a 80-100 muffler just for a little tone?
