Cruise Control

My Super Duty was recalled because the cruise control might not shut off when you wanted it too. The letter said to NOT use it until the dealer replaced a part.

Well now they've replaced a part and the I cannot set the cruise speed! The "CRUISE" light lights on the dash but when I lift my foot the truck slows down - way down!

I guess the "fix" for not turning off is to never turn on

Hi ho, hi ho, it's back to the dealer I go.

J-C, I'd head back to the dealer with this. I've installed a couple of after market cruise controls on trucks I've had in the past. I don't know about the Ford factory unit but the aftermarkets are adjustable as to the tolerance on the set speed. If they replaced the control box it probably needs to be adjusted.

Well - it's fixed now!

Service Manager said the cable wasn't plugged in!! Jeeesh! How could anybody change a cable and not plug it in?!?!?!?

Since the recall was ONLY my First Trip to the Service Department, I am really impressed with their work (NOT).

Everything is so specialized these days, they probably forgot to get the plug specialist to connect the cable after the cable specialist put the new one in.

Took my Sd in for a recall and all they did was disconnect it. It has been a month and a half since they did this and they say the parts are still not in to fix it. Also had a brake recall they say that the parts haven't come in. Makes me wonder if my dealer has a clue to what they are doing.

4x4 - I got the Cruise Control recall notice in February. The notice said that parts were not available and NOT to use the Cruise Control. In late May, I got another notice stating my dealer had parts and to make an appointment. I hope your dealer gets the parts soon.

J.C. - After turning the Cruise Control "on" and then setting the speed, a green CRUISE lights up in the lower right quadrant of my instrument cluster. When you hit the brakes, or otherwise turn it "off" the word CRUISE is no longer lit.

Good luck to you both...

J-C

Just wondering when your build date was. After asking other people over at the diesel site it seems the cruise control light was added at some point at the very end of last year.

My build date is 11/30/98.
I thought it was 11/23/98, but found some paperwork that said 11/30/98.
I must remember to update my truck's web-site with the correct date.
