Anyone use these? Just ordered them as they were recomended for my 2007 truck. Will my exhaust sound better? Louder? What sort of gains should I expect?

Bump.

After asking and receiving many recommendations for the 94106 cats I decided that it was finally go time. I went to performance peddler and read the big disclaimer saying something along the lines of make sure these fit. Since I wanted info straight from the source I e-mailed Magnaflow. They recommended the 99956HM cats.

According to the Maggie rep, "The particular part 94106 is a universal cat that has a maximum engine limit of a 6.2 L engine with a test weight of 6000lbs. The one that Magnaflow Engineers recommend is going to be the 99956HM which has also an engine limit of 6.2 L but a test weight of 6375lbs."

Does anyone know the sound difference? Besides the 99956HM is more that twice the amount of a 94106 which can be cost prohibitive.

 

how does weight factor into the performance of the cat? is it in regards to exhaust pressure?

 

Just get the 94106 model. Just because it's universal doesn't mean it won't be good. Everyone uses them and they perform very well. The one that was recommended to you is just a way to make money off of you.

Towing and hauling capabilities, it depends on how long the catalyst can last with the extreme heat of the engine blowing through the catalyst. The truck itself is already at 5000 - 5500lbs depending on body/drive train, so to still be able to haul a good amount you will want something that has a good GVWR rating.
