I was just browsing around looking for my next set of tires (curse Nitto TGs lol) and after looking on the Nitto site just to get the exact dimensions of my TGs, I seen that they offer a 275/70/18 size. The more I look, the more I see this size from other brands.

It works out to a 33.6 or so inch tall tire, about 11 inches wide.

Im thinking this might be a nice alternative to the very common 325/60/18. at least for me anyway.

325s just seem to wide for me, and almost not tall enough to completley fill the wheel well. I think the taller 275 might fill out the wheel well a little nicer, even though it is about 2 inches narrower. If my 325s werent so wide I think they would look to small (hieght)

Pros to me:
-Taller
-Seem to be less expensive than a 325-60-18 or a 33x12.5x18
-Weigh less than a 325-60-18 (better acceleration and milage probably)
-Skinnier than a 325 so it wont just float over everything, will actually dig down and get some traction
-Seems like a decent amount of manufacturers make this size.


Only Con I can see is that maybe they will look a little too skinny, and might even look odd on a 9 inch wide wheel??


Is there a reason I never see this size or whats the deal? If anyone has this size I would love to see some pics on these trucks.

For the same reasons, I was actually looking at a 265/70-18
A 275/70 might be a good alternative for me.

 

And just for the purpose of looks, I found a truck through a Google search that has 275/70/18s on 18x9 wheels, says he has a 2.5 leveling kit and a 1 inch taller block in the rear. This is Iceman302s truck off of F150forums.com...hopefully he doesnt mind lol.





I think they fill out the wheel wells nice. That truck looks damn good too.

 

The 275/70-18 is a common size. It's the stock sized tire on F250/350's that have factory 18's. I've got a set of Cooper ATR's on my stock suspensioned 07. While I'm not overly impressed by the Cooper tire, I can say the size is a perfect fit for my truck.

I just bought 18x9 KMC Monsters. I think I am going to go with 275/70/18's as well. This is a truck with the wheels I just bought and Nitto TG's in the 275/70/18 size:

Not sure if this helps and its not the most ideal size, but just for comparison puposes. Im running 275/65/18's I think they look bigger than they are. The really deep tread gives them more hieght than some others...

Get some REAL off pavement terrain tires this time.

I think that size would look sweet on your truck. And you wont have as many rocks flying up and taking off paint. This is why i went with a wheel with a lot of backspacing. Although the Fabtech lift makes my front tires stick out some, my rear ones are ALMOST completely covered by the fender flares.

 

I know. I figured these TGs would be an alright tire because they looked decent treadwise and everyone raves about them here. I absolutley HATE them though. I knew it was a bad choise about 3 days after I put them on. 350 bucks for all four though, work for now

I hear ya on the rock chips. My paint looks like azz.

I think the 275/70-18 will be a perfect size for my upgrade - not monster tires, but fill the wheel wells very nicely.

And.....I'm jealous - I have a DSG XLT, and just love the look of the PTM bumpers of the FX4. You've done a nice job with your truck - looks great!
