Camera on
Anyone got a bright idea how to turn on the back up camera when I want to. Thinking of hooking a momentary switch to the circuit that activates it, obviously its the reverse circuit just need to know where to tap in?
search for backup camera has 16 threads on the topic.
One of which Bob started, showing where to get the backup circuit in the left hand kick panel by the parking brake.

Take a look through these, and the other 15 threads, should have every thing you need.

After my last venture with relays not sure I wanna do anymore. But if I do these threads however helpful talk about aftermarket cameras, I have the new KR that Ford installed a backup camera in the tailgate handle trim bezel, and the monitor in the rearview mirrow. I wonder if the same BLK/PNK wire activates it?

Black w/ pink in Connector C270E by the CJB, and this is for the trailer tow reversing circuit, not the backup lamps in the tail lamp housing.
The output from the DTR is the Dark Green w/ Yellow Stripe, which is what is connected to the reversing lamps in the tail lamp housing.
The color changes at connector C405 to BK-PK. This circuit is what feeds the trailer tow reversing relay in the CJB, and activates the trailer tow lamps.

What you are talking about, it would be best to run the wire along the passenger's side frame rail to the front of the truck, and install the relay for the fused connection to the backup lamps.
Use the black w/ pink stripe in C270E for the input to the SPDT switch and then a hot in [/i]mode[/i] { run / always / etc } to the other leg on the SPDT switch to turn the lamps on at any time.
With this, the output of the SPDT switch is what you would connect to the positive trigger on the camera input, to get the functionality that you are looking for.

Hope this helps, let us know if you have any other questions.
Good luck.
I think the OP had the same question I do. We want to activate the factory backup camera on the 08 F150 in the review mirror, not an aftermarket camera that needs reverse lights. Anyone know of a way to do this? Im thinking a switch to activate whenever I want, not just reverse.
