2005 150screw Still smelling Fuel & Recalibrated PCM
Well I've had my truck to 2 Dealers for a raw fuel smell, inside the cab. The first one said he could smell it but coudn't find it. I xcan smell it very well if I stand with my snout over the passenger side of the engine.
The second said he smeled it and couldn't find it. But checked the fuel system components around the engine and found no problems.( I had also complained of rough start-up and 'diesling' at highway speed with no load on vehicle.) So, as a pre-caution and as a hopeful 'fix' , he re calibrated the PCM. Is that the same as a re-flash? Anyway the truck is running better , BUT I AM STILL SMELLING FUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gas can evaporate fast after shut down or even be blown away from the fan air wash when running.
You have to take a close look for discoloration signs around the injector bodies.
There is an O ring seal to the fuel rail.
The injector body body it'self could leak.
The fuel rail to line conections could be in trouble.
The very least is to put a pressure gauge on the fuel system and LOOK for a leak down to tell if it is a pressure problem.
Look at it both just after shut down and while running.
I cannot see how the shop acknowledges a problem like that it, and is just left go.
Effort has to be made to find the problem and not just let it go out the door.
If you don't want to do this and the truck is under warrenty keep going back or to another dealer. There is a possible fire hazzard.
