XM Antenna Location

Right now I've got a Pioneer GEX P920XM XM SAT radio tuner... I've got the antenna mounted about 8" on the right hand side of the roof, just above the passenger seat. I notice when I go by tall buildings, the radio cuts out. Should I consider moving it to the other side? Or is that just a waste of time and won't improve anything?

It only happens when I'm close to tall buildings. Every place else I'm fine... even under large overpasses and in my garage it works perfectly fine. Or is this just the nature of the beast?

manual150 i don't understand how could you hit anything with that tinny xm antenna. i installed an aftermarket xm antenna on a truck i mounted it just fwd of the third brake light and ran the cable under the lens cover and used sealant never had a leak as the cable is very thin.

Could you give me an idea for an aftermarket antenna that will work with this GEX?

ManualF150 i miss read your post yes you will lose your signal if a tall building or freeway over-pass blocks your signal mine does the same thing you need a clear path to the satellite and i believe in some cities the have repeaters and i apologize on miss reading your post.

Don't sweat it man... we are all human!

As far as signal strength, I think where the antenna is likely just fine... it's just those stupid concrete/rebar buildings...

I installed my Sirius antenna under the dash. The antenna is on the metal bracket just underneath the coin tray on the top of the dashboard as close to the windshield as I could get it. It works fine and I haven't had any problems at all. You could consider that as an option.
