Sirius Everything Renewal for $77/year

My trial subscription in my 09 expired on August 28th. I received a card in the mail for a "special" price of 3 months for $12.95, but you had to agree to subscribe to regular priced quarterly billing. I decided to call and see what else they would offer. I spoke with a guy (who was nice enough) who went through the normal speel of what I could get, etc. I told him I couldn't justify full yearly rates - he then offered me the yearly rate for $77. That's a good deal.

Just thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone is on the fence on re-newing.

F150 Pilot 09-18-2009 04:28 PM

I couldn't get the $77.

I whined about the cost, told him I couldn't justify the $129. He offered me month to month for $13 but I pointed out that comes out to more than the $129. He wouldn't budge and neither would I. I was extremely polite but he let me go without renewing.

I'm disappointed. I like Sirius but no way am I paying $129 for it. My trial sub doesn't end until Nov. 9. I call again in a few weeks.

That's a bummer - I'd call back and see what someone else says.

I just bought a new truck, 2010 f-150 that has Sirius. I never thought I would be interested with it. But today I have a different opinion. I like it. But I didn't know it was $129.00 to renew. I'm hoping that's for a year. Right now I'm on the free 6 months trial. After a short ride with the wife, she fell for it and wants to get it for herself real bad. I've heard of units that you can use in the car and take into the house, I think that's what she's wanting. Guess I should start researching. She actually sat in my new truck and listened to some stations while I was putting away groceries and washing dishes! This could be serious, I hate doing dishes. Anyway, Ideas welcome regarding portable Sat radios, appreciate any advice on this. I mean I need help to get her out of my new truck!

As a perk (as they call it), after you re-new, they will offer you a portable radio at some low price with 3 months of free subscription.

Wait until you get close to your trial period expiring and you'll start receiving cards in the mail offering some discounts. Let the service lasp for a few days and call them and ask for the $77/year plan. Never hurts to ask!

Thanks ibcop, I'll do that and see what happens.

I have been a customer for years and share a portable between between my Commuter Car, Truck, Garage and Living Room. Also shared it with my wife's van when we had that. When we traded in the Van for her Edge it had Sirius built in and free 6 months. She doesnt listen to Sirius too much, but didnt like the clutter of the external unit. I prefer the external unit because they have so many more features, like the guide's to see whats on other channels and the ability to pause, rewind or fast forward. Also the ability to take it with me where ever I go. I always liked the Starmate's and the Sportsters. Now I use the Stiletto 100, which it 100% portable, can run off a battery, hook it up to a Wifi Network incase you are indoors where you don't get a signal. also acts like your Home DVR where you can program it to record stuff. (For example you can program it to Record Stern every weekday at 6am) also if you hear a song you like you can record that and you can transfer your MP3's on to it, I replaced my ipod with this. The concept of this thing is awesome and I love it even though it is a POS, it freeze's up, the battery doesnt stay on and it skips when it gets too hot. They dont make this anymore, but you can buy them used or refurbed, I would stay away. The new one out is the Stiletto 2, which I hear is much better but I would do some research on it, or if you dont care about Sports or Howard Stern the Pioneer XMp3 for XM is supposed to be awesome.

BAD DRVR 09-29-2009 11:15 PM

I just got the $80 deal too. Just tell em that your buddy just got the deal and you want the same discount.

Sopher 09-30-2009 05:52 PM

Guys, (gals too)
This is nothing new. The sirius side of the XM/Sirius radio may not offer the deal. BUT the XM side has for YEARS.

I had a Pioneer Avic-N2 with XM (I pulled it out before i traded by toyota for by my 2009 Lariat f150. I got the $77 deal for the past 3 almost 4 years now.

F150 Pilot 10-06-2009 10:55 PM

I called again today, two weeks from the last call and again, they would NOT give me the $77 price that everyone else seems to be getting. I told them I know several people with Ford trucks who paid $77 and she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. She even ended the call with "Well Sir we're very sorry to lose you as a Sirius customer, have a nice day." She seemed perfectly happy to let me go.

Now I'm 0-2.

My trial sub ends Nov 9. I'll try them again after that. If I still don't get the deal then they can kiss my hairy backside. No way am I paying more. It's a nice service but I can easily live without it.

BAD DRVR 10-07-2009 12:16 AM

Where's The Food. Well I guess you could try after it lapses like ibcop stated. That blows.

You know, in this economy you would think people would be bending over backwards to secure business and there are alot who aren't. I got some fantastic service when I went to the 4wheel offroad parts store today for the first time. They are such jerks in there. Smug and rude and you as the customer, have no idea what you are talking about. I will never give them money for anything after today. Fail you jerks

posttal 10-12-2009 09:22 AM

Sirius customer service SUCKs..It took 3 calls to people that barely spoke english in order for them to drop the 15 dollar fee to switch to a new radio..keep in mind this is the 2nd switch I've done this year the first time was easier..But then they kept trying to sell me more radios for the house..I told them they could shove it since then I would have to get another subscription for each radio unlike cable TV where you can have as many TV's as you want. Also note that the FREE internet radio goes to a fee based radio the 1st of the year.I still will keep it..but there pushing it.

I let my subscription expire as well and received a similar card offering 3 months for $12.95. I asked if there were any special yearly deals available and was offered the $77 a year deal.:D

I got the $77 a year deal last year, I'm hoping I can get it again when I have to renew soon.

Iceman 21 11-02-2009 10:48 PM

I recently got the $77/ a yr deal. It did take 2 phone calls and some threatening to leave, but got it.

OgRedd 11-03-2009 06:28 AM

Renewed my year subscription about a month ago. Didn't opt for the extra online cost. Can't see paying to listen online when sites like Pandora and local stations let you listen for free. Sirius dropped the ball on that one. - Og

modea2006 11-04-2009 08:53 PM

I just called and asked about the $77 for a year and they told me that I couldn't get it without redeeming a code. Then the lady told me it wasn't open to the public and i couldn't get it and i was put on hold. She came back and still told me that it wasn't available to the public, but what she could do was let me have the $77 subscription for a year this one time only. I was rather confused but i did get the deal.

My free trial expired last week so I called and made my third attempt to get the $77 deal. No dice. She said sometimes they'll send out that promotion via mail but it was not available now. I told her others were getting it and she said I was mistaken. She offered everything else, $13.95 per mo, $39 for three months and $79 for six months, I said politely declined those offers and they let me go.

Bluerider 11-11-2009 08:03 PM

I have called twice for the $77 renewal and they will not give me that rate.

Does anyone have "the code"? I expire on Dec 13th and I will try again then or a few days after.

digitalamish 11-15-2009 09:56 AM

Wow, that was easy. I had three radios under my account, 2 of them coming up for expiration. I called in and told the first rep I didn't want to renew any of the subscriptions, and he immediately transferred me to another rep. I barely explained the situation, and she was already throwing out 1/2 price on #2 and #3, and when I explained I was defintely dropping those, she threw out the 50% the #1 radio. That radio wasn't due for renewal until May. So, based on the amount I still had credited on that radio, I paid like $9, and got another 6 months tacked onto my primary account.

So, unlike others, I didn't have any issues. They were quick on the draw to offer it to me, I didn't even have to ask. Maybe having my subscription up is magic trick.

mitch150 11-15-2009 05:43 PM

I have a lifetime sub on primary radio and 2 other subscriptions. When I signed up almost 5 years ago, all secondary subscriptions were to be charged 1/2 price of annual rate. Got my renewal notice for 2nd and 3rd subs and had to change my underwear when I saw the bill. They want to charge me $98 + $10.98 music royalty fees for each subscription. Since when is $109 1/2 of $148? Called them up and got some snot nosed foreigner (sorry if that sounds racist, cause I'm not) who didn't even want to deal with me. When I asked to speak to another rep, he told me I couldn't as it wouldn't do me any good, I had to pay what was on the bill. Well, I'll see what happens when I call the cancellation department when the subs are actually up next month. Not the way I would have expected a loyal customer with a lifetime and 2 secondary subscriptions to be treated.

digitalamish 11-15-2009 08:02 PM

Oh, I should also mention another trick I used. The credit card that was associated with my account was one of those temp cards that Citibank used to let you use. So when Sirius tried to 'autobill' my account, they couldn't. For the last two weeks I have gotten calls from them every day (sometimes 3x a day!) to update my address info (oh, by the way, let's confirm your credit card too). I ignored all the calls and only called today because I got an email they were going to suspend ALL my accounts.

greencrew 11-15-2009 10:42 PM

I called, and I'm not eligible for the $77 yearly rate. I gave it a shot, thanks for the tip.

greencrew 11-21-2009 11:48 AM

I was successful on the second try.

I said: "Hello, my subscription to Sirus has expired, and I would like to take advantage of the special offer on the flyer for $77 for a year."

They charged me $77 plus the $11 Royalty fee. There will be a $75 charge if I cancel within the first year, and I will be billed at normal rates after the end of the year.

Greencrew, thanks for the tip and it worked like a charm! I just acted as if I had a flyer mailed to me, said the same thing as you and they went for it. Got the $77 deal plus $11, same as you... FINALLY after four attempts.

Good job!

greencrew 11-21-2009 04:21 PM

Woowhoo!

The script is worded to honestly say that I know of the flyer and its offer, not to say that I have actually received one. Their understanding may be that I had the flyer mailed to me. It's a little something I learned from the leadership provided by dealerships and banks with their marketing offers.

greencrew 11-29-2009 10:26 PM

I still don't have Sirius working on my radio. This may be too much work for my interests. If I get a bill, I'll call and straighten it out. If I don't get a bill, then I'm done thinking about it. I won't miss it often enough.

greencrew 12-03-2009 11:16 PM

I did receive a bill on 12/1/09. I called and they got my radio working, but there was no adjustment possible for the few days I'm billed for but had no service.

My one year subscription will end 10/27/2010 because my billing period started 10/28/2009. I guess I should have asked for it to start on my next billing date. They did adjust the price down to $71 because the first month was almost past.

I got a second bill already today, which said I had not paid the first bill.

Yesterday I received my 11/28 statement which now included a $2 Invoice fee. The total is now $91.38, for my 11 months of service, and I need to send one more check for $2.10.

"Invoice Administration Fee: If you elect to pay by check or money order, we will
charge you an administration fee. The administration fee is currently $2.00 per invoice."

longbay102 12-14-2009 11:45 AM

$165 a year here in Canada. Any promotions?

My free six months are up in December sometime. The price for one year here in Canada is $165. They want another $10 a month for my wife's Edge. I'm not aware of any special promotions. The $77 you guys are getting in the states is pretty good I'd say. If anyone knows of any special promotions in Canada would you please let me know. I really got hooked on no commercials. Can't really stand to listen to radio staions now.

Bluerider 12-16-2009 04:10 PM

I tried to renew again today as my service expired Sunday. I tried with two different people and nobody would deal. If I want it, the cost is $129.95. I am going to think on it awhile.. A company with stock prices of $0.61 seems a little slack. Plus they may have violated the SEC agreement when they became a monolopy, to not raise certain prices for a period of time. But I doubt they will belly-up as some analysts are predicting.

mixedbreed 12-16-2009 06:49 PM

mine ran out while i was deployed and never missed it enough to renew it, then on my trip to get the saleen wheels, i called the number on my screen and got a year for $55. i was pretty happy.

I have the satellite radio with the docking unit and it works great just plugs into your cigarette lighter for power and set your car radio to the lower frequencies and it plays through your car speakers I reccomend the fm adaptor plugs into your car antenna then to the satellite radio a little more work but helps the reception and I have the home dock unit so I can play it through my house stereo also.:lurk:
