Sirius Satallite reception 2001F150

I recently transfered a Sirius sporters to my 2001 F150. I live near the metropolitan area of St. Paul, MN, actually out in the country. I get good reception at home, but when I get into the city, I receive static in the reception. I have tried different FM stations and nothing has resolved problem. I have done research and hear everything from an FM modulator, hardwiring and even cutting off a cell phone ear-plug and putting the earplug in the fm jack in back of the back radio. Has anyone tried these solutions? or have any other suggestions? Also do you need to have a Ford radio removal tool to remove radio?

Thank You
Andy

Yes, you need the tool, 2 u-shaped handle lookin things. I have a FM Direct adapter for mine, living right next to Detroit and have NO problems. It might be worth the 20 or so bucks to try. Hardwiring seems not to get rid of static, just makes things more hidden and clean looking inside not tying up a 12v plug.

i had the direct fm adaptor in my old truck and for some reason every once in a while it would cut out for 15 minutes or so, but the headphone jack would still work so i bought a aux input adaptor for my pioneer radio, now i have a new truck and dont want to get rid of the factory radio, does your fm adaptor ever cut out?

I found a solution that works most of the time. The sporter now comes with the car adapter kit. I didn't know what the one fm cable was for. The cable looks like an attention that hooks on the inside of the windshield and to the back of the fm holes on sporter.

Thanks for your replies
