sirius or XM

Personally, I liked XM better. Check the channel lineups and see which ones you prefer, that's what it really comes down to.
Here is the prelimiary post-merger options. What I don't like is that it appears the sports packages are not available on both systems (i.e. baseball on XM, NFL on Sirius). (PDF warning )

The music stations on XM are light years better than Sirius while Sirius has much better talk options except for sports talk which I'd give the edge to XM (mainly due to the fact that I'm a big baseball fan and that XM has more nat'l programming).
I am a subscriber to both and I lean slightly towards XM but Sirius is very good as well. It mainly depends on what you want it for...both are great options and I've found that they complement each other well. The only thing that I use Sirius for is NFL talk, occaisional NASCAR talk (Tony Stewart's show is entertaining) and Howard Stern. If I'm not in the mood for any of that it's XM all the time.
Sirius' music programming is more mainstream whereas XM has mainstream stations in addition to having great stations/shows which have introduced me to all types of music that I would have never been exposed to anywhere else unless I caught via word of mouth.
In the end, both are leagues better than anything you'll find on any other type of radio (terrestrial, internet etc...) and the choice boils down to personal preference...me and the wife ended up with both.
The merger is gonna be great for me as I can just go with my XM and add the Stern channels, NFL, NASCAR and possibly another channel or two and I'll be set...and for less money.
