I went to RadioShack and bought the cigarette lighter adapter for about $8. I just used the press together wire connectors. The reason I only get the 5v is because I am using the cigarette lighter power cord that came with the Sportster 4. Since there is so much room in there behind the bezel, it was not a problem. I did get the Alpine HU for Christmas and I have already installed it. I also got a set of Infinity's which I put in the front doors. I will buy the rears soon. I am bummed out though! I thought I would be able to use the RCA's in the rear of the HU to hook up my Sportster BUT, that is a no go! In order to hook up the Sirius directly instead of using the FM modulator, I would have to spend an additional $130 or so. Needless to say, I will put that money in to other things like the rear speakers. Anyway, that's how I maintained my 5v with the Sportster.

Why doesn't this work? It should.

The RCA's on the back are an input not output right? and make sure that it is the audio out not the FM out

I have 3 sets of RCA jacks on the rear of my Alpine CDA-9883. One set is an output jack for the right, the other set is an output jack for the left, and the 3rd set is for the subwoofer.

I don't want to hijack the thread but I wanted to tell everyone, I figured out my dilema. After I posted my last reply, I looked at my owners manual again and after some searching, I found out that Alpine makes an adapter that will suit my needs. The connector is their proprietary Ai-NET on one end and RCA's on the other. This connector plugs in to the CD-Changer jack and then becomes an RCA input. The part is about $15 and then all I need is the cable that plugs in to the back of the dock. So, for less than $30, I will have my direct connection to my stereo!
Anyway, back to the custom install pics! I for one would like to see all of the different ways you guys find to mount them.

For about $100 bucks I got the P.I.E. XM5-FRD04. It supplies the 5volt power and AUX adaptor to the radio.

I got my AUX setup in and it sounds KICK A$$! I got the Alpine KCA-121B from Crutchfield and went to Radio Hack and bought a Monster male RCA to male 1/8" cable. Now I have no volume difference when I switch from Sirius to another source and NO MORE FM HISS!!!!! I'll post pics of the final product in the next couple of days now that I have everything done.

Alright so I didn't get pictures up and this thread is old now but I wanted to get it back out there to see if anyone else has a Sirius XM installs they wanted to share.

Here is the latest pic. Please excuse the camera phone pics but I'm at work and just took it.

The cable sticking out is the Alpine iPod Full Control cable. It works fantastically. I have also added rear Infinity Kappa's since the last post. Up next... Alpine 4 channel amp and MTX ThunderForm. That should make the Sirius kick a little more.

That is a nice clean install. I was not sure where to put my reciever in my new (to me) f150. I have a Sportster4 and a Stiletto just have to decide which one to install now. Thanks for Sharing
